Ok edited to spare your sensitive eyes and not sully your precious thread, Colin

I know Greg did you wrong and appropriated your toy culture. I hope you can rest easy knowing that he has half the followers of the brand you and your ex started on insta, and you made that shit about you, yo!

    ;)

I get what you mean. There are little things I'd change about them all. Starting with the X eyes. Overall, I think Dust Brain looks the best. His half stoner, half shifty, eyes make his expression really great.

Finally saw the big guys in person. Target had the full set. Slobulus had the worst paint job which killed me, some of his snot was painted bad and his lip paint was stuck to the plastic. I'll probably just buy minis.

Stuck this mini glow skull face in my clear S-taiin!
(Was hard to get in, probably will have to tear the foam to get it out)

I don't like the American greetings Mad Balls, grabbed a few minis and ended up throwing them away. It's the same with most modern toys and cartoons from franchises that were around when I was a kid. They've been through too many rebrands or test audiences or whatever and lost the original essence.

I got the painted mondo horn head which is nice, but they do seem a little over painted for my tastes. So I bought all 3 of the bootleg blanks. I think those will be more my cup of tea.

The title of this thread is definitely inappropriate. Changing it. Don't change it back.

Could the tough talk please be relegated to PMs and we bring this thread back on topic? I love madballs, but only had a Slobulus popper as a child. I'm pretty sure I got it at Pic'N'Save way back when. My mom hated them, so I was never allowed to get more.

Out of sight, out of mind for a few decades until this most recent revival. I appreciate the cute vibe from the ones at Target. I understand that they are not to this board's aesthetic, but so what? I'm interested to find out if they are selling with children, or nostalgic adults. KR also made some that I really like. Originally designed by James Groman and a host of other designers, Groman was apparently given sole rein over the new ones, and I think they tread a great line between nostalgic originals and modern sensibilities. I know someone earlier complained about the black rub, but to me it highlights the accents and emphasizes the "grossness."

I've spent way more money on these toys than I planned to, as I could not stop buying them at Target and eBay. There's a boatload of balls coming at me in the mail. If no one objects, I'll put a few more pictures of them up later.

My favourite VHS as a kid.. was pretty rad how you could flip the covers in between Escape From Orb and Gross Jokes. Gross Jokes had the better content so here it is..

I'm addicted to Slobulus. In fact, wearing my Heroin Skateboards madball tee given to me by Deer Man of Dark Woods just makes me love the new Madballs even more. Give me Slobulus or give me death. I love them.

The two styles together just show how great they both are in their own ways. The new "animated" look of the re-vamped versions work so well. They emphasize the features that made the originals just great.

In my opinion, a lot of these toys lose the madball aesthetic. The only thing this guy, nagballs, bukimi blasters, any others I'm missing(?) have in common is they're a ball shape. They have a gross out look but it is much more textured and realistic than a madball. Splurrt Cadaver Kid is the closest thing, in sofubi, I've seen to this late 80s early 90s toy look. Madballs, garbage pail kids, my pet monster, all these toys are "gross" but with a cartoony appeal. It's something that makes them different from a lot of other toys out there.

Tried to do a little re-creation of the "Gross!" advertisement from comic books - I need more Madballs though for the full effect...

The white halo around Arrghh's eye is really annoying me.. might just cover it up with black marker. The great thing about these KR/Kozik produced Madballs is they are so badly painted that I have no problem throwing them around and getting them scuffed up ;)

This is the exact reason I started collecting splurrt. Nothing prior to this had given me the same joy that the grossout toys of my youth gave me. When I saw CK I was instantly transported back to being a kid again. I enjoy that they are making new madballs. I like that I can make resin molds of the Target releases and make keychains lol honestly though it's nice to have a reason to go to the toy aisles. I stopped collecting action figures so now I check for these or garbage pail kids blind boxes or my current favorite Aisle toys TMNT Mega Bloks
