Those are all customs by saku_bun Ralph. He's done a few other Zollmen figures as well...Some I would'nt mind seeing go into production.

Those painted mini barons made up to look like the originals are great.

OK now for the grumpy Chris segment of this post.....One of the many reasons I don't like new toys is the hype element I can no longer deal with. Yeah yeah who cares right? How many people missed out on mad baron minis like me because it was open unlimited and greedy fucks bought them up by the boatload? Can't just buy one or two, nope I have to have it all...

I love this photo!! I'm not really into the MBs but I saw this pic on SakuBun's Instagram awhile back & was amazed at how good the colorways looked. I think they look better than the original paint apps actually.

His customs always look clean & his color choices are always rad. Ruined them? No sir, he improved them..

 

Man you really need to lay off the acid.....

 

I doubt he painted over ones you needed...I think you're still mad from the bird shit. Saku_bun is obviously very talented and loves Mad Barons and it's not like he's just painting them up to sell off.

Anyway, I'll be in the minority here and say I love these customs because they are fucking rad. Reminds me of Butanohana's style.

 

His customs are freaking Awesome!

 

IMO this customs are very cool.
Each one is inspired by other famous robots such as jeeg, etc...
Also, most of them are from the unpainted Punk Drunkers release of the last year so no rare version was touched.

 

I'm siding with Chris on this one, okay the custom work is nice and all but

1) Mad Barons don't come cheap and
2) Production runs are not very large

So it's a little bit of a kick in the teeth seeing all these customs when people like myself would just love to get our hands on just one of the originals from Zollmen.

I just cant see the appeal of the re burstron myself, the head is great but I think it looks far better on that Draki mashup.
Maybe a body is still in the works but It just doesn't match up to me.

 

Well that's SB 2013 for you. Flippers run rampant (and even admit it), everyone likes the same 5 hyped toys, and gaudy customs are viewed like the person who painted them invented cold fusion.

My gripe with these is the aesthetic of the Mad Baron is the smooth lines, the fine details, the nuts and bolts. Looks like this artist just haphazardly applied a heavy coat of paint wiping out the details and frankly making them look like those Russian nesting dolls that get smaller and go into each other- Matryoshka.

To each their own I guess...
