To my shock, we don't seem to have a dedicated general thread for this legendary company, so I guess I'll kick it off here in 20goddamn19... with some nutrageous news on the Gyango front: first new color version of this figure in twelve years, and only the third color version for this sculpt: Not my bag- I think I would enjoy it 24.3% more than I do if it were without the red and blue free sprays on the knees and arms- but I'm guessing this one will float many boats here. (I will cling steadfastly to my fantasy that someday they will do a version on delicious monster green base vinyl, with the markings done in light tones of purple, orange and brown. Are you listening, Yamanaya? No? Very well then.) Come one come all to the Yamanaya party. Anyone have any interesting archival tidbits? I'm not sure it's a mystery to any degree- just unknown to me, and I've never tried to research it- but anyone know who handled the sculpts on the Monster Township line? They remain some of the most gorgeously tight, perfectly calibrated sculpts going.
Excited for this, as I'd had trouble finding much info on Yamanaya on here. Their releases make up a good chunk of my modest collection, but I understand they may not appeal as much to those who prefer the more vintage, rounded style. I can't say I was that into the paint job on the new Gyango either. Same with the camo King Joes.
That King Joe is honestly pretty damn fantastic. For me, personally, I’d like to eventually get my hands on Yamanaya’s Baltan. The Black base with gold and metallic blue sprays, specifically. Their Garamon is pretty spiffy, too. Rotund. Edit: Barely found out they have a couple versions of Gomora I didn’t know about. Fantastic. And in finding that I also came across their Eleking I’d forgotten about.
Thank you. I couldn't quite sort it out. Their version of Garamon is definitely great. The Semi Ningen that was paired with him too. Maybe I can manage getting pics of some of my favorites on here later.
I got a really nice Kanegon from the Hakaba Gallery table at 5 Points last year. They brought some out on the Sunday and I couldn’t resist adopting him. I’ll try and post a better pic when I get a chance.
Their Gomora is wonderful, and HOLY HELL this color version that came out last year at an early summer event thrown by Marusan... have not seen one of these in the wild yet:
@ungawa222 WOW. Thank you for this image! I’ve seen a grey base with brown metallics, and I think a red/orange version. But this?! Ugh. That is a DAMN fine Gomora!!!
I still can't get the photos to post using my phone. Any chance someone can give me a hand with this one?: The new green King Joe arrived today. The colors are actually a lot more vibrant than the stock photo or mine really show.
Say no more fam. Got u. It's difficult using your phone IMO (I use my tablet). But basically, you need to view more sizes, then open in a new tab. Copy that url (if it says farm-something-static-something you're in the right place). If you need more assistance shoot me a dm.
Excellent, I'll try that next time around. I got the package from you today as well. Thanks very much .
Just throwing this out there after finding out that it was an one-off Ilanena custom from Toy Karma 2 in 2009. Anyone know where it's currently residing? Sneaky, covert PM's on the DL welcome!
Oof. That is a gorgeous Taigon. I never noticed the subtle, wicked smile of sharp teeth just behind the trunk. The GID with green/silver sprays and the Ichibanboshi silver/brown spray versions are my favorites. Best of luck on that hunt, Andy.
Wow, that's fantastic. The Yamanaya Mirrorman reissues are tempting me, as well as the newer ones by Bullmark. I still see that pink Taigan reissue pop up here and there. I was looking through old Mandarake listings and there was one for a Yamanaya Big Eye that said it was glow in the dark, but the vinyl was yellow. Does anyone have this one and can you confirm that it actually glows?
There were several Big Eyes in GID, as well as one in yellow. Yamanaya's page of Mirrorman repros is here: http://yamanaya.sakura.ne.jp/mirror/index.html
Hey, does anyone know if Yamanaya's web site moved? The one at https://yamanaya.sakura.ne.jp/ has a "for rent" sign up.
Seems like they are still in business, as far as I can tell. This page said they were taking orders for a new Dino-Tank.
Does anyone know how to order from Yamanaya? The dino tank mentions phone orders but I can't find the phone info anywhere - would like to provide that detail to my buying service. Thanks for any help!
