I think pickleloaf hit the nail on the head with his comment. My opinion is that its funny and cool when its insinuative of sex or body pars, but when its this forward and deliberate it loses its credibility. For me this is sleazy and not in the cool John Waters way, plus I can imagine this being a game killer when a girl comes back to my place for the first time. ...but everyone has the right to like what they want...just not for me...
I think pickleloaf missed the nail and wacked his thumb and "losing credibility"?? what credibility do you think they were going for? How the hell is this related to a dildo?
I didn't understand that either. Maybe he was looking at the Marmit Deathsquids and posted on the wrong thread?
That's why I bother with em'. I love this figure. I think it takes some real stones to put up you're own money to make something that you are into even if it goes against the grain. I've talked to Sungtus about this and many of his other figures and I can say that he has a very pure and unique way of looking at toys. All of the figures that he creates come from a spark that then finds form in his toys. Me me me La is the total manifestation of sex or gratuitous sex. While others figures come from things as simple as shapes or feelings. It's kind of structureless in that way and I think that's what confuses people. He is unaffected by any current trends and a real pioneer. Plus he is actually one of the nicest dude you would ever talk to.
I'm still on the fence about the XXX-LA, as I was initially with the Menargo... Disgusting in an intriguing way I guess. I find it funny though that most people saying this lacks subtlety seem to focus on the head and fail to recognize the body's amazingly twisted & intricate design.
Re: I will probably be one of the few people to agree with you I had a good chuckle when I first saw it. It actually doesn't look like much in pictures - much more detail when you see it in person. I actually thought of Dali when I saw it - all the bodies all over. (sorry - hope this image is ok...if not..delete away).
Forgive me for resurrecting a thread that's been dead for over 4 1/2 yrs., but I just stumbled upon this particular version and was wondering whether anybody has some info on it? Never knew there was another painted (?) clear pink besides the initial run of painted/unpainted ones...
I've been avidly collecting boob-monsters for a while (uh, that's not something said very often) and I've never seen this version before. But just when I think I've seen them all, I stumble across an undiscovered colorway. It gives me the impression that Fetish Mode/Sun Guts did several, very small run colorways. For example, I think there's an orange version that I've only seen a picture of once. As far as pink ones, I know only of the unpainted clear and clear painted.
It does indeed seem that way - which I think is interesting, because the last blog post is also over 4 years old, so there really seems to be no information at all to be found about those... I'm just curious as to when/how these subsequent runs were sold. Luke, are you still out there..?
It is hard to say for sure whether this is a great paintjob done on a clear pink one, or maybe the vinyl is a pealized pink. Either way, I think the effect is really nice. I think you might be right about the small runs too. With a few of the smaller Japanese producers the numbers are relatively small, and as they go unhyped (thankfully) I think the creators are happy to play around with random different paints and colours on small releases just for the love of it and showing their appreciation for the fans of the toys. That to me is a much better model of what the hobby should be for a small independent sofubi 'label', and one I really respect.
Very much agreed. Been meaning to post these quick close-ups for the three people that like this figure for a while now - the vinyl is clear pink infused heavily with tiny gold flakes, so much that it almost looks like bubble in places and has actual texture; never have held anything quite like it in hand.
