Finished up the main story on BL3 a few nights ago and getting around to doing the side missions now. I agree the story wasn't that great and I found it difficult to follow at times, so I ended up skipping most of the cutscenes. But damn was the game fun to play, even after beating it there's still so much left to do. Seems like enemies get a lot stronger post-story? I feel like I'm dying way more often than before, and a lot of these side missions seem tougher than even the final boss fight from the story
Yeah the enemy level scaling get to the point where you need to have a solidly intentional build or its sort of a slog. Don't blame you for skipping the story. BL2 isn't quite as dialed in as 3, but the story is way better. And while not quite as polished as 3 it's more "fun".
Big fan of Borderlans 3 here! finished Spider Man 2. It’s super pretty, the story is a good super hero story (which I too am tired of). It’s the game I enjoy the most going around doing nothing. The game is waaaay too easy and the fights waaay too messy for me to really enjoy. I always get to a point I m jumping super far out of the scene or get blocked in a corne and can’t see what’s happening. It’s ridiculous. Might try game+ harder mode in 6 months though, cause the graphics and the feeling of flying through the city and do Spider-Man shit is super well done and crazy fun.
I've been on a puzzle game kick lately. After getting tired of Columns and Dr. Mario, I recently started playing パ ネルでぷこ (on the Switch virtual Super Nintendo) and holy hell is it addicting! Visually it looks like it's made for 10 year old girls, but I love it!
I’m replaying ‘Control’ on my PlayStation right now. My gosh I forgot just how visually and narratively mind1bending this game was. So good.
I got back into Diablo IV and I'm loving it again! I only do solo stuff cos I can never seem to figure out how to get a party together but I still have loads of fun. I'm super tempted to preorder the new South Park game and I can't wait for GTA VI!!
my almost 6 year old kid entered the digital world and got a switch for xmas. my wife got me this. forgot how fun and frustrating it was
I replayed THPS a year or two back - SUCH a good game(s)! But yeah, some of the goals in the game are SO hard and frustrating.
Another title I've been curious to check out. I just picked up Cyberpunk 2077 during the new years sale but haven't gotten around to trying it yet. Also pretty hyped for Tekken8 later this month.
great game, genuinely the most immersed I've been in a first-person RPG probably ever recommend doing side content as long as you find it interesting, though--the main story is actually pretty short also, another rec for Baldur's Gate 3; it is my favourite game in over a decade. And I usually can't get into isometric RPGs or turn-based combat at all.
Ah I have heard SO many good things about Baldur's Gate 3. Seems like every one who's played it has loved it. I meant to get into it next, but CP2077 was discounted at a price I couldn't refuse, and I've heard good things about it too. I need to get myself an external hard drive before I can play it, it takes up so much storage lol
I enjoyed all the dlc for control thoroughly. I platinum’d the main game, and just finished it for the second time over the weekend now I’m diving into the foundation DLC again!
Recent pick-up. I'd only previously bought one of the games digitally, so i didn't waste too much money. I've always loved the pick-up and play 2D fighters, and these games stand out because the emphasis is on weapon combat, rather than hand to hand. The music, backgrounds and game-play are top notch. Neo Geo is a fave retro platform of mine! Samurai Shodown I, II, III, IV, V, the upgraded Samurai Shodown V Special and, for the first time ever, Samurai Shodown V Perfect.
Circling back to this. Just started playing New Super Mario Bros Wii-U Deluxe and it is NOT just a remastered version of the NSMB Wii game. Definitely the same feel and look, but the levels are all new, with some new power-ups too. At least, none of the levels feel familiar to me, and I don't recognize some of the p-ups. Oh, and mini games are new to me too.
LOL Palworld! Kinda buggy but the survival aspect is fun. the Poke uhh Pals. Yes Pals are interesting. Free on Game Pass if you have it.
I picked up the Last of Us part two remastered over the weekend… the no return mode is brutal. I consider myself pretty good at the game; I’ve played both 1&2 multiple times and gotten 100% of the trophies… but dang. Even on the lowest difficulty it’s tough playing these random scenarios.
How is that!? I picked up TMNT: Shredders Revenge to sate my side scrolling need, but have thought about picking that up.
I bought the remastered Last of Us: Part Two over last weekend. The “No Return” mode is brutal. Almost unfun in how unrelenting it can be. I’m glad I only spent $10 for the upgrade.
Yeah, I'll pick up Shredders Revenge at some point. SOR4 is a worthy addition to the series, it plays really well and looks great. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to to modern gamers, but if you're a seasoned side-scroller fan, it's a blast. They've pretty much done everything right.
Still need to play The Last of Us. I’ll get there. Currently getting my ass kicked at Returnal on ps5. I spend 18 or so hours on the first level. Punishing experience like I’ve not experienced in any Souls game. I really miss the computer smaller screen, a mouse and a keyboard for shooters like this. Now I’m blocked again at level 5. I don’t recommend it. I’m going through cause I’m stubborn and will not let that game beat me.
Recent physical shmup purchases ... Jamestown+ & The Castle Of Shikigami 2 Jamestown is a indie shmup in a retro style that reminds me of Metal Slug graphically. Some people don't like the play area because its a vertical shmup on a horizontal play area, which means its tricky to cover the whole screen but i liked it because it gives you more options on which enemies to engage with and more space to dodge bullets. You have to replay lower levels on higher difficulties to unlock advanced levels ... the game is fantastic with great music and the graphics are really well done. Castle Of Shikigami 2 is famous for originally having a particularly terrible localisation, with a bad translation into English. I kind of wish they'd left it like that for the new Switch release. This game intrigued me because there are a lot of different characters to choose from (compared to a lot of shmups) with very different weapon systems and styles ... it should make repeated play more interesting.
