Thanks for posting the Exxopolis. I live in long beach and had no idea. CSULB is a nice campus. I think they have one of the three pyramids in the US...

Looks like I will be returning to the area in a few weeks to reside. Hopefully I'll run into some of you mooks at a TAG opening or some other toy related good times!

Just left Exxopolis and it's very cool. I highly recommend it. It's only up a few days and closes nightly at 6, but if that doesn't deter you it will be worth it. Will try and post pics later

Then your friend knows to eat at restaurants outside of the city ;)

Depending on what time you roll in, there's a good little joint called the Blackbird Cafe on Orange & Wardlow in CalHts. I'm a big fan of their Dos Caballeros. It's a take on Eggs Benny, but they use sopes instead of muffins and a veggie chorizo instead of ham. Khamal Palace downstairs in Marina Pacifica is good for Indian food. They run an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet every day for under $10. Lately though it has been hit or miss. You can always order off the menu though and though I haven't, I am told it can be much better, even for the same dish(es). There's another Indian place on Second Street that does the same thing. Better consistency, same price, but their name eludes me at the moment. Simmzy's on Second Street. Trendy gastropub with an ok menu. I can really only recommend the brussel sprouts, so you may wanna avoid unless you just wanna do some beer flights and finger foods...

I was only half kidding about my starting sentence... I'm positive there are many more places, but I tend to no longer be adventurous in my own city. It has let me down so many times that I tend to live by the Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice , shame on me adage.

Let me know if you and your friend discover anything. Better your stomach than mine

Or, you guys can swing by here and I'll give you the Chile Colorado left overs I made. It came out great! ;)

Thank you for those recommendations!! I went through them with my friend but she decided to show me this comfort food place called At Last Cafe which was just delicious!!! If you haven't gone there I really recommend it!

As far as Exxopolis goes, that was a truely amazing experience. I really hope they come back to SoCal again. Everyone should've taken the time to gone to this if they had free time!!!

I got to check out the Exxopolis as well today. Thanks again for the heads up about it, 666doll.

At Last Cafe has really great food. Unfortunatley there is hardly ever any parking around there. Parking is one thing that Long Beach could use more of.

Glad you guys dug Exxopolis. If they come back it would be cool if they developed a larger series. I read they've done this in other locations. I think the campus can accommodate that.

Parking in Long Beach is definitely a commodity. I'm all about the city taking one apartment building on each corner, knocking it down and building a three level parking lot. I'm also for blowing the Queen Mary up and sinking it (the thing is a fucking eye-sore). I'd also like to see the break water destroyed so we can have surfable beaches. The stingrays at Seal and Bolsa Chica are killing me...

I thought of some other places to eat after I made my initial post, but that's moot now. Long Beach likes to indulge in their breakfast early lunch spots that close up at 3 at the latest.

Gary's openings are usually a lot of fun, and he's super nice. I've heard blackie is pretty sweet too.
The Skirball Center is awesome, and worth supporting.
