Holy shit! What a great show with tons of amazing pieces. I didn't get what I ultimately wanted , but I still had tons of fun. Thanks to the Snake Pit for providing me with drinks that I paid for. Good seeing the people that are cool in my book. Blasting Devo in my car made the drive home tolerable and Del Taco gave me the food coma I need to get sleep before the flea market tomorrow.
Can I bring a lounge chair next time? Is that legal on melrose? 3rd to last in line was a painfully long wait for my old creaky back. Still managed to score my 2nd choice which saved me quite a bit of cash from my first choice. I can't tell non collectors how hard we work for a little bit of vinyl.
I second that. I was one person in front of you, so fourth from last in line. Apparently my coat smelled so I took it off, and ended up waiting an hour in a t shirt...in we rather that is cold here. That being said...what a fucking great fun night! Discovered Avalaka! Hung out with cool LA OG, cool east COAST OG, and fun new skoolers. Drank a couple of beers, had food, chatted like a monkey on speed, got some cool toys and avoided a ride in the minivan! Awesome!
Awesome TAG show once again, amazing toys and art, pre-show shots on Melrose to warm things up, LASK out in force, and writing 300 tiimes on the blackboard ALAVAKA ALAVAKA ALAVAKA ALAVAKA ALAVAKA ALAVAKA ALAVAKA mr. ree ALAVAKA ALAVAKA ALAVAKA ALAVAKA ALAVAKA
Since people probably don't look at the Hinterland section and we are in So Cal. The dudes and ladies of San Diego are meeting up again. We're meeting at Five Guys at Liberty Station at 7pm on Feb 23, 2014. Burgers, toys, friends and fun are all in the plans. Everyone is invited. See you there.
I'm headed to the Geffen Contemporary this Thursday, the 3rd to see the Mike Kelley exhibit if anyone wants to meet up. Maybe grab a drinky-poo or some din-din afterwards. It just so happens that it's their (MOCA) free Thursday as well, so win-win.
Can't make it this Thursday, but two Thursday's from now (April 17th), Kenneth Anger is presenting a screening of his Magick Lantern Cycle featuring a restored version of Lucifer Rising with the "lost" original soundtrack by Jimmy Page. So if you like either avant garde film, Led Zeppelin or the devil (and who doesn't like at least 2 of those?), it should be pretty rad... http://cinespia.org/event/kenneth-anger/
Who's gonna be out tonight in support of our supreme overlord, Mr. Flynn? Seems like a pretty good show in general. Hope to catch some of you locs out. Also Daniel Arsham opening at Oh-Wow - http://oh-wow.com/current/
^^^^^^^^^^^^ Honestly, because of the raffle ticket thing at these events and openings, I have opted to ignore them entirely. Though I understand the reasoning behind them, I don't necessarily agree with it, nor do I find it the least bit amusing. Rather annoying. On opening night, open the fucking doors and let people in
Oh, I didn't notice that. I just walked in & Connel & another guy were walking around with clipboards making it pretty easy to get something if you wanted it. The toys were great btw, Grizli's stuff was really cool & Frenzy's had some good 1-offs. Brian's stuff is not so much my flavia but was still pretty impressive.
Raffle seems based on show popularity. So PK is raffle but if I created something it would be first come first served. King Toofus by Clarke is amazing! ( http://instagram.com/p/mbuCDyHVlD/ ) I pray, beg it goes into production.
no raffles saturday so not sure whats up? Show was alot of fun, Thank You to everyone who came out!!!
