Re: Updated 3/24 OllieTor WIP Photos It's a yellow blank and the face is staying yellow, but I'm going to go over it with black around the eyes and a clear yellow on the face to tone it down, and give it some depth, the mace/fist, will most likely end up black with some iridescent silver over the top. I'll also be adding some pearls, and giving it a matte clear coat. Thanks J, The Patsy was a present for my wife, so I took a long time on it, but it was worth it to see her face light up on Christmas morning. Paul was nice enough to help me make that morning memorable, and for that I'll always be grateful. I said this then, and I'll say it again, Paul knows how to treat fans. The Deathra has a LED lite inside, thanks to an extra special package I got from, Iamthemusic, I love the fact that this board has helped me hone my art, even when they don't realize it.
Re: Updated 3/24 OllieTor WIP Photos Thanks Rich this guys is so much fun to paint, I'm itching to paint my SD as well, but first things first.
Re: Updated 3/26 Skellie An hour left to go... O.K. I'm really stoked about how this is turning out, I've got about an hour of touch ups left (the skull on his hip is going to be skeletor'ed out as well), and then I can throw down a matte clear. I'm not saying this to brag, but I fucking love it.
Re: Updated 3/26 Skellie An hour left to go... How did I not notice the tribute before. Now I fucking love the yellow face.
Re: Updated 3/26 Skellie An hour left to go... Just so you know, the yellow in the new photo is pretty true to the actual color now. I went over it with a clear yellow, and a flouresent yellow, and also some clear blue, around the edges, to keep it from being monotone, and the blue was to create the green that's under Skeletor's hood. Thanks a lot, it means a lot to me to hear that you guys like it. I really have to give props to rich though, the Ollie is a blast to paint, it's been one of the funnest things I've done so far (Hedorah is right up there as well.). I can't wait to finish this and start on my Sludge. Thank you so much Rich, that made my night.
Re: Updated 3/26 Skellie An hour left to go... Very cool tribute idea and GREAT execution, Michael! You should be proud!
Re: Updated 3/28 Pestar Took a break from the Ollie to work on this Pestar for a board member, I like the front, but to be honest, I don't know how I feel about the back... I will never paint a Pestar again after this, I don't know why but it's been the hardest sculpt I've painted so far.
Re: Updated 3/28 Pestar Jeezus, Michael, you're on fire! That Pestar is GLORIOUS! Really great, man; love the color choices... the way the same orange as on the head is visible just at the outer edges of his starfish-tips is really sweet. Keep going like this, and I can't wait to see where you'll be in 6 months!
Re: Updated 3/28 Pestar I especially like the Hedorah. I love how you used the red vinyl as the main color. I always appreciate seeing the color of the vinyl as part of the design. Creative work!
Re: Updated 3/28 Pestar The Pestar turned out great. The colors fade together really nicely and the whole figure has a lot of pop. Nice work!
Re: Updated 5/9 Standard Deathra Next Up Sludge Demon Updated with a Deathra, I think it looks really good, but I painted so maybe I'm supposed to feel that way?
Re: Updated 5/9 Standard Deathra Next Up Sludge Demon Thanks J, I'm really happy about the way this turned out.
Re: Updated 5/9 Standard Deathra Next Up Sludge Demon I had a couple people ask me for updated photos of the Deathra in the light, so here you go, updated shots on page 1.
Re: Updated 5/9 Standard Deathra Next Up Sludge Demon my sentiments exactly. The only area I may not be completely sold on are the solid red wings. But aside from that the figure is very well painted. My favorite part is the incorporation of the guts and how they're still clearly visible.
