I don't hate the saucer but also not totally into it. Funny that you mention "psychedelic" cause I was seeing hints of Yellow Submarine/Sargent Pepper in the first Death 13. WIth kinda rotating eyes and all.
NOW I know what this guy reminds me of! The mechanical owl from Clash of the Titans. The eyes, the gold, the beakish nose of the trooper... could be some inspiration here, I'd say.
Am I the ONLY one who only sees "watermelon" instead of "psychedelic' And the new black/white Trooper is my the coolest thing from this line yet, for me.
Love the Death 13 head. Hoping for a gid version (do I even need to bother typing that anymore?? ). Am I the only one totally not feeling the Saucers? They look like they have next to no play value. It's not like the dude can come out or anything... I'ma just stick with the figures and pick up something like this:
Saucers are disappointing for sure. However, if they were $20 and we were to have a baby boy, my wife said it'd be cool to get a bunch to hang from the ceiling and have a space-themed baby room. I'm totally going to do this (not necessarily with Toygraph stuff) when we have a kid! That's some pretty sweet artwork on that box! Got a photo of a built kit?
Yeah the saucers seem kinda half-baked. At that price, you'd think they'd have retractable landing gear. I caved and bought one out of curiosity but I can't see getting anymore. And how do you display them? Just sitting on a shelf seems lame. Maybe if I find a clear arm and base it could hover above something.
I've had some fun with mine... I also made a very low-tech Space Trooper Saucer movie while I was out from work with the flu...it's at my blog if you wanna see it...
haha that was funny red But not buying one though shame cos i was looking forward to the release..the trooper doesnt seem to even fit very well..
They should add some cool low tech charm to the saucers with one of those floaty magnet displays, how cool would it be to display a bunch of actually floating saucers? Then when you wanted to play with it you just grab it out of the air. That would make it one of the best toys ever and a somewhat easy fix, I mean its been done with other stuff so it can't be too hard. Just imagine it......
I'd buy a magnetic, floating saucer for sure. Probably wouldn't be too hard to rig one up actually. Just need some magnets and some internet know-how.
Seriously, just imagine how cool a shelf of those would look, plus it would never run out of batteries. They would have to be boxed but they could get so crazy with making old school throwback boxes like the ones people have posted. Edit: after minimal research appears it might take an electromagnet to get it high enough to look cool http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEExd0wlsPo
I wish...the Polar Lights model is getting harder to find and thus goes for well over $100...way more than a plastic injection kit should be. Some company appears to be reissuing it, however (in the same 1/72 scale)...so we'll see. Way out of scale, but it's got a 2' diameter! I'm sure it could be doctored up into something workable for a few Space Troopers. REdYOdA, that shit was great! Keep it up! And I totally second the magnet idea for the stock saucers. If someone were to pull off that mod, I'd be damn impressed!
I wasn't a fan of these when I first saw them, but after going through this thread I'm sold, can''t wait for my pink w/ gold spray gets here... I'm also digging the 2 new ones coming out...
Toygraph x TT x NYCC exclusive... clear pink vinyl with solid pink vinyl head. pink, silver and red paint. Trooper also includes spike ball arm attachment...
