Would love to see some more pictures from you guys, especially of new shelves. I think you ended up with some of my old flock of Stevens I had to part with. Even if they've been in storage, I know they are still in safe hands. Even better if they get to breathe this year
Another goal is to paint more and be more free with my painting instead of trying to color in the lines all the time and maybe also make a little money from customs to pay for all the paint and blank toys I bought last year
This year I have some pretty solid goals. - Sell the sofubi and other toys that occupy a box labeled "SELL" because I'm getting sick of looking at it - Sculpt as much as I can to get better at it, and stop embarrassing myself in front of myself (I'm my own worst critic) - Try to display all my toys, which is probably going to take buying another case, and taking the tails off of some toys - Attempt to school my boyfriend about retail and flipper prices so he doesn't do something silly
Exactly how we operate. Thus far anything my wife truly can't stand I've taken to the basement / my space (which is only a single print of Galactus / Saturn Devours his children Goya mashup). Wife and I took a trip to Ashville, and I had to have a print of this photo of a laughing goat from an artist there. She hates it, but it's in the living room currently. Every time I look at it I smile: https://www.jeffreystonerphotograph...-4db5-b830-fe24be5aa08a-lol-laughing-out-loud
This is quite the sentiment and means a lot to me, Simon, thank you. It’s always a wonderful feeling to know my obsession translates into images that can somehow invoke some type of emotion or reaction from an onlooker. Lots and lots of ideas, and hoping to really implement them in real world settings soon!!!
Continue thinning out and focusing. I'm really only actively collecting like 7 or 8 artists anymore, and I like the way my collection looks on the whole because of it. And get better at letting toys pass me by when the time isn't right. It's expensive to be alive these days.
After a month, I have not yet accomplished any of my goals, but I have added a new one! 6. Catalog my toys I found a cloud based software I'm planning to use. https://catalogit.app/ So far I have been building a spreadsheet with the basic info for my entries. The software let's you import from a csv file. I think I have 85-90 percent listed. So now I can start taking pictures. I have to take everything out my cabinets to dust and put in the lights, so I plan to take pix then. I'm optimistic that Catalogit will work well for me. They have many small institutions using their software, so I'm not worried the site will just crumble. Personal accounts cost the price of maybe two toys (with nowaday prices) and let you publish items in their hub (https://hub.catalogit.app/). No programming or separate hosting. You can also export all your data. The organization of the entries is not as well suited to soft vinyl as Club Tokyo's layout, but I'll have less technology to worry about. It's also forcing me to confront how much I've spent, and gives me records for insurance.
My main goals for 2024 are to collect what I actually enjoy to look at. Seeing as how everyone and their mom is making toys nowadays and all the makers toys that I personally loved have skyrocketed in price since I started collecting, I gotta be careful where I spend my money hahaha cause sometimes those grails come up when you least expect them! I’d also like to travel to toy shows this year. At least to one god damnit!
- No big purchases/ lottery for overprice this year. - repro, popy that affortable. - Sell the sofubi and other toys since i start collecting because my wife getting sick of looking at them!
a goal my better half has set for me: more toys out than in. it'll be a major victory if i just keep it even. though i do have boxes of simpson's playmates and, ahem, urban vinyl that have been sitting in the basement since we moved in (looks at watch) seven years ago, so those should probably be first on the chopping block.
There are about 2-4 figures/sets I need to complete my collection. I know I need: GID Radioactive Homer - Toyfare exclusive Ullman-era Family set maaaybe Smithers and maaaaybe, General Bart w/Treehouse
Have my friend assemble a second Milbos tall cabinet (returns from a 5 month trip next week, yay!). Display all remaining toys still in boxes. Enjoy the collection!
Although it's unlikely to happen, 1. because they are so hard to find and B. because I do not want to pay the prices that they are commanding lately, I would love to complete my Marushin Dinosaur Series with these 4 guys. I will trade big and have vintage and modern to offer if you are holding.
Im trying to be more realistic with the market. To do more shows in Japan and hopefully Taipei. Try to be more savvy with releases each month with more affordable toys to grow a large collector base. Really the only toy I want for the collection is a shirahama Trex. And always want more Marusaun biogoji. I want to build a better painting booth.
Dear Diary. It has been three WHOOPS 1 day since my last toy purchase. It wasn't on my toy goals for 2024... but I've never held a Kaijuken Booska before. And I wanted to know what it felt like. My goal for 2024 is to get rid of 80% of my Lego. It's ok. I have a lot and 20% will still be plenty to play and display with.
When I wanted specific parts to build a Gyango and Booska, I bought from BrickLink. https://www.bricklink.com
