Ugghh kind of disappointed they made Shane such a black/white polarizing character and killed him off like that. The way his crazy was written was too quick and jerky IMHO. I mean you could see he had a good heart when he talked to Lori (and ZA made him go the way he did), and I'm sorry he took better care of Carl (post ZA). I don't like Andrew Lincoln's mean little I FART A LOT face either. His range isn't that good when he tries to portray mean on the show. Knew this was happening for weeks (spoilers were all over the net). Demunn and Bernthal were hastily written off the show BECAUSE Demunn wanted off when Darabont was fired (changed his mind- but it was too late) and Bernthal has rejoined Frank for LA Noir. Otherwise I guarantee they would still be around and some others might have have been killed off. I mean I really thought having Shane overcome this Lori obsession coming back into the fold would have been awesome for next season- but it was not to be. Well next week will be an adrenaline filled finale at least... EDIT: Also Rick's big Jenner secret is no real biggie anyhow. You die you come back as a zombie no exceptions (barring head trauma in the initial death). Wasn't that understood by everyone from the beginning?
Given the time frame that they were working with (in regard to getting rid of Bernthal), and the fact that there was NO WAY that they would have Carl kill Shane, I thought last night's episode was decent. I thought that everyone was under the impression that they would only turn if bitten.
I meant just the audience figuring that out, not the people on the show. Yeah but I figured that out in the beginning because I just thought that was the way it was written in the comic.
Yeah, the assumption has been that only people that are bitten/scratched are infected. Although it's been getting weird in the 2nd season because they're pretty cavalier about rolling around in the zombie bodies. I remember in the 2nd or 3rd ep from last season, they were EXTRA careful about not contacting the fluids directly. I hope 3rd season introduces some new characters to the group and/or brings back Merle, etc. The group dynamic is getting stagnant. Even though they're on the farm with Hershel's entire family, only about 3-4 of them participate in the story. Part of the fun of 1st season was seeing the range of people that were affected by the zombie outbreak and how they were dealing with it. The current scenario turns it into Rick/Hershel's group vs. the outsiders; makes for good action sequences, but less interesting storytelling.
I hope they head off to the prison after leaving the farm. That should introduce a few interesting new characters.
I think next week we might see an introduction of a new character from the comic. I agree with Daniel, they need to tighten up on being consistent with the zombies (i.e fluids, blood, how they walk-Shane's zombie trot towards Rick was badly done).
I was thinking about this last night with Shane and Randall and maybe since they are freshly "walkerfied" then their bodies actually work better until they start decaying more? Not sure if they actually thought it through, but it does seem like some of the zombies are a lot more mobile than others...
I remember the walkers in first season actually ran after Rick when he was riding the horse in the city.
Ok so tonight is the big night, Season 2 finale ! I'll be watching this 5am tomorrow morning on itunes but will post thoughts after it's over. As much as I'm lamenting the loss of Shane (yes I'm firmly in Team Shane camp and think Rick is a wuss that gets everyone killed) I don't think I'll have time to morn as it's going to be relentless action tonight. One good tidbit for Season 3, Merle Dixon will be back!: http://dailydead.com/the-walking-dead-s ... -as-merle/
New character was an awesome surprise for me. I have not read the comics. Glad to see Rick continue to toughen up and laying down the law. Lori still sucks balls... Ready for the next season already.
Ehhhh maybe I have to rewatch this last episode with a suspension of disbelief in mind. Plot holes galore (i.e. they all magically show up in a line of cars on the highway just as Rick is making his big speech to Carl that they have to go). Also, I think Shane made this show a lot more interesting. Hell, even though Dale was annoying he made it more interesting. When Rick was making his dictatorship speech and giving the option to leave, I would have said "Adios MF!"
Dude, When they all rolled up at the same time especially when T-Dog/Lori rolled in ( knowing they spent the night heading in the opposite direction) I lost it. And then EVERYONE meeting at the same place .... Really !! I wanted to like the finale, but I yelled at the screen more than I was in awe. Don't get me started on Lori, after she set Shane's death in motion she gets pissed at Rick, WHAT ! And all Rick had to do was act stupid when confronted about the secret Jenner told him. He was the only one who knew. I know it's for stories sake, but still. Then he goes announcing how he killed Shane and looses his mind with the power trip and his fucking rediculas choice of where to camp... The only thing worth while was seeing michonne saving Andrea. They should have cut the lower jaws off the walkers though. Great to see that many zombies attack, but the story was annoying !! Even with all this, I think season 3 could be good. Just get some good writers to tighten this shit up.
I didn't really care too much about the caravan of survivors rolling up at the same time. Lori's reaction to Rick killing Shane was ridiculous though. I can't wait for her to get shot in the face. She's the worst part of the show, although Sophia's mom is starting to get annoying as well. The group's reaction about all being infected was equally as ridiculous. Who the fuck cares!? It's the zombie apocalypse, so what the fuck does it matter that you will turn into a zombie when you die?
Yeah the group reaction was funny (to everyone being infected). It's like they over react to that BUT later at the campfire when Rick says he killed his best friend no one says shit. Really? Some of those people, T-Dog especially, were close to Shane. Someone at least should have questioned it, said something to Rick. Seems to me Shane at one point kept the group pretty safe and Rick's gotten a bunch of people killed with his poor decision making. If it wasn't for Rick and that stupid kid Carl they might have found that prison way before this. Either way they still would have been better off with Shane. At first I wasn't sure if Lori was pissed at Rick for murdering Shane or because he let Carl put his walker form down. I think it's a combination of the two. Which is utter shit because A) Hello Lori, look around- ZA, what part don't you get yet? Carl might have to do some horrible things. And B) She pretty much planted the seed in Rick's mind to kill Shane. I think she still had feelings for Shane she was not letting on. T-Dog?! Guy finally gets some lines! I would have let Lori & Beth get out of the car and took off. T-Dog was the only person thinking. Except I think Andrea is going to pissed at him for leaving her behind.
Yeah, the action along with the introduction to Michonne and the prison shot at the end made the whole episode. And if they go where the books go in the prison story arc, things are going to get messy! Say goodbye to half the cast! And anyone going to make a gif of Hershels unlimited ammo shotgun?
That shit was so absurd, hahaha. The superimposed "blasts" never really seemed to match up with his recoil either. Also, every time I see Sophia's mom, I just think of that movie "In Dreams". I think it's her hairdo. That is all.
Hershel's shotgun was awesome! I kept imagining a chain coming out of it going down to a huge ammo box on the ground next to him. Haha.
Forgot about that !! ( Hershals 80's shotgun) My wife , who never catches this sort of thing, said " how many rounds does that shotgun hold ? " I said " well , all bets are off as far as logics concerned, I'm just waiting on Arnold and the choppa !! "
