Not a bad epp. But predictable non the less. The hunt for that kid and the fact that the RV have been in the same predicament for the last 3 epps drives me crazy though.

The soap opera overacting is sort of tiresome. I'm gonna keep with it but, well...

there was an interesting documentary the other night on the real world possibilities of a "zombie outbreak". Apparently some very sophisticated models have been calculated that if a real world zombie outbreak occurred, the chances it would lead to the end of civilization as we know it, are very high.

interesting comparisons to plagues throughout history as well as "hordes" conquering civilizations.

    anyone see it?

    zombie fear is real..!

It still hasn't reached the hackneyed apex of bad taste married to mediocre melodrama of True Blood, but imminently skipable nonetheless. Oh well.

I agree with what Rich said (cringing) about this being the third episode where there was an active search for Sophia going on but I think that will diminish greatly by the next episode. Overall I'm not disappointed with this season for two reasons. One, I realized that the season is not crammed into six episodes like Season 1, therefor the pacing is going to be a little slower this season, and Two, more focus is going to be made on character choices/definement. I like zombie action but if it's all running from zombies it would get boring right? I found this interesting article online that goes into that further:

    http://www.cinemablend.com/television/W ... 36530.html

I mean some of the things I liked in Season 1 that I miss this season are minor- overall intensity (it's going to be a slow burn like BB Season 4), and the eerie setups Darabont would do like that sequence when Rick and Glenn smeared zombie guts with the creepy Bear McCreary music. It will pick up though..

    Okay...
I'll stick around. I'll give it time.
It's not the pace I'm minding so far, I love a good slow burn, it's the scripting. Something about last years characterizations really worked for me, but so far I'm not rooting for anybody this year.

    seriously...

the acting is terrible. I don't think it was this bad last season. Is it all due to the writing?

Yeah I can see that. I feel that also. I'll always root for Shane because I think he is adapting the best to the new world. I still like Daryl, but what's not to like about him? Missing is the sharp dialogue from last year. Meryl's lines, Jacqui's lines, I even miss Morales. Everyone seemed to be in a pressure cooker and it made for some witty dialogue. I'm hoping it picks up too don't get me wrong, if I see crying, another impassioned speech or Rick doing that thing where he brings his hand to his chest (during said speech), I might get weary quick.

I just think since the season is 13 episodes , calling it quits after 3 isn't fair just yet.

The actor portraying Hershel is good. Is it the new characters? It does seem stiff at times but I don't think it's the actors fault as much as the writers. I mean how many weeks in a row can you do crying impassioned speech?

Knowing the comic book, what might come next, and the fact that I gave up on Lost after the first season and half the second because I was pissed off at the scheduling (that's when they first started doing split season scheduling) and the slow pace, makes me stick with it. I regret that I had to play catch up with that show starting in season 5.

I went back and rewatched season one waiting for season two. The "good" was a lot less than I recalled and the "bad" really out weighed it. I usually wait until a season is over and watch it all in a row, but I'll probably be passing. A bunch of my friends try to tow the line of "but its the best thing we are going to get on TV zombie blah blah so we have to support and watch it." I disagree.

For me a problem is that the series wants to have all sorts of human dramas going on, but as much as I'm trying to, I don't really care all that much about any particular character. There are such turgid emotive scenes, yet they tend to leave me cold, hoping some zombie will turn up for cheap thrill relief.

Will Andrea off herself or won't she? I don't know. Stop teasing me and resolve that instead of dragging it out, please. Is Shane such a badass that he's going to go all lone wolf survivalist? Of course not, he's a lead character, and by the way shaving your hair off and glowering into the mirror meaningfully was done better by Travis Bickle some 35 years ago, and he didn't even have big muscular arms. Will vulnerable little Carl turn into a zombie, die, or miraculously recover? Oh stop trying to pull at my heart strings already. Where is Sophie? I dunno, running away from the Blair Witch maybe. Why is that farm house so nice and why does it have unlimited electricity and food and why is everyone's haircut holding up nicely during the Apocalypse? Oh yeah, look ... situations involving T-Dogg, Dale, and Glenn, but I had to go to the AMC site to remind myself what their names were because they're just sort of there for the writers to do something with now and then.

I'd better stop before I make myself dislike the show too much. Just ... a little more intrigue and action, please. Enough tears and sappy heart-tugging for now. Bring out your dead!

Actually there was one thing in this episode that I liked ... the zombie hanging from the tree. That was pretty spooky and gross, and the merciful aspect actually worked.

Argghh I'm now inclined to agree with the people who last week were saying "this season sucks". Last night's episode blew. That well zombie was ridiculous. More dramatic banter not much going on. Although next week's episode has me hoping for a turn around with Merle coming back, walkers, Daryl gets hurt:

    I stopped watching last week.

This series does to zombies what the Twilight series did to vampires.

ha.. that would have been good.

god, that sex scene (or lack thereof) was so forced. I don't see any connection between glen and that girl. no yellow fever.

i'm guessing the sheriff's wife realizes she's prego with Shane's kid?

    sooooo slow this season.

    Dean, you nailed it.

I still enjoy watching the show. Moreso than anything else on TV... however, that can probably be explained by the fact that I don't watch anything else on TV. I don't think I've followed a program the whole season through since Flavor of Love. Hah.

Human drama is human drama, in a post apocolyptic setting or not. I understand that it comes with the territory of human characters, and that not much of a plot could exist without it. But it's just over played. I'm more interested in seeing heads explode, lots of guts (minus cheesy zombie autopsy scenes), and people getting eaten... especially if it's Andrea.

I can't stand Andrea. Staying inside an exploding lab isn't the only way to off yourself... so quit bitching at Dale and go hold your breath somewhere. I don't feel quite bonded to any character in particular. I was leaning toward Daryl until he cheesed it up last night. I mean, I get that you're showing your sensitive side... a rare display of your human traits in a world where humanity is rapidly deteriorating. But it was super cheesy. Get a real vase, dude. As for Carl... being a wounded young boy on the brink of death, I wish I could feel bad for him. But he just looks like fucking Pumpkinhead to me. Can't see past it. Furthermore, zombies and all that aside, why the shit would you let your kid attempt to casually pet a wild deer? Last I knew, had the bullet not injured Carl, the deer would have probably fucked his day up anyways.

Cubensis your post made me laugh, so I thought I'd share my thoughts on each character to date:

Rick- I liked him the first season, this season I hate him. The only good line he had was the one with Hershel about him and the almighty. Way too preachy and not the Rick of the comic at all. I realize they want to make this about the process of breaking down in this environment but he's all kinds of lame this season. I'd rather see him tell Hershel what's up and this is how it's going to be like it or not old man.

Lori- I want her to die. I'm tired of her getting sympathy and making Shane the psycho. It takes two to tango. She's way too self righteous.

Shane- I love Shane. He's fine, the only one actually thinking. He gets the job done. Take charge guy. I only wish he'd get over Lori already. I mean really? Andrea's pretty hot? She's available. Forget that other dumb girl Lori!

TDog- I like TDog. Theodore should get more story lines. He's another one who's actually thinking. I'd want TDog around if shit hit the fan. I like his friendship with Dale. I hope they don't kill him off.

Dale- Dale was cool first season but he's taking the dad thing too far this season. Dale get over your interactions with Andrea. Let her be damn it.

Andrea- Andrea of the comic was one bad ass. The TV version is a whiny one dimensional "Give me my gunnnnnnnn!" Serious I know it's TV and it's slower but in the comic in a few frames they had her as best shot in the shooting practice. Jeez hook up with Shane already.

Glenn- I love comic book Glenn, but TV Glenn is a nervous nelly. Him an Maggie become a bad ass team, I'm having a hard time believing this Glenn will. Glenn had some great snappy lines the first season, now he's way too respectful of everyone and nervous.

Carol- She just needs to die already.

Daryl- Daryl was cool the first season but now he's reduced to this hooker with the heart of gold character. Who cares about the kid anymore? Daryl Season 1 would have shot Daryl Season 2 in the head with his own crossbow by now.

Carl & Sophia- Also need to die. I hate kids on shows like this. More gruesome the better.

Hershel- Jeezers need to go. They'd have been the first to go when the zombie waves hit anyhow.

Maggie- She's hot and there is hope if she gets over Hershel's way and helps Glenn not be so nervous.

I miss Morales and Merle but at least one is coming back soon.

The well zombie sequence was sort of like a an elaborate joke with a long build-up followed by a dud punch line. He was an ugly mofo but he also sort of looked like the Michelin tire man. After that I literally fell asleep trying to keep up with the increasingly turgid soap opera sequences. Need to try re-watching tonight. I guess, or whatever.
