@The Moog I think it’s more that it felt like someone’s character was being attacked for their choice of toys, which has happened here before, and I disagreed with it then. If it felt like someone was shit talking you personally for lovin’ what you do, I’d react no different!

Mate, i just didn't like Mr big pants swooping in out of nowhere and laying judgements on an innocent comment. Slagging us all off, about how horrible we all are. It annoyed me people then starting jumping in having a few digs. I'm up early to go to work, so I'm grouchy . . . ignore me.

On a lighter note, @The Moog, the first time I read your comment ,I thought you were also apologizing to your father because he was a lurker. Haha, not even kidding .

Ahem cough cough, now that all of that is sorted and PK can go back into hiding, back to a post in regards to the recent discussion of people being priced out of the hobby... I was really interested in hearing people's thoughts about this point before PK decided to massively overreact and berate the community that has supported him for so many years. Reminds me of that time he labelled every fan in Australia as a flipper... classic.

It's concerning that so many artists have raised their prices in 2017 to almost unnaffordable levels. Some are definitely beyond what the quality of their work warrants, they are only selling at a high price because of hype. I mean you know something is off when a beautiful Atom A. paintjob is a third of the price of most newjack artists who have been airbrushing for only a few months. So these guys are currently selling their toys for $300+ and when the bubble bursts, they will fuck off with a chunk of change in their pockets.

However there are now a few established artists like MVH and PK who have been raising their prices (modestly, nowhere near as extreme as VVC artists for example) and are making a living from their toys, which is great for them. The thing is as a general rule, an artist can never really lower their prices after they sell at whatever price they choose. Prices are going up but I don't think some artists who are rising the wave are quite looking at five even two years down the road where interest will be exhausted. So right now, things are going great for some sofubi guys.. however when the bubble pops, and they can't sell blanks for $300 anymore.. what are they going to do? They can't lower their prices because that's a slap in the face to people who paid such a high retail during this period of affluence in the scene.

LOL! We need to stream an episode or two of 'On the Buses' or 'It Ain't Half Hot Mum' to push the PC police over the edge! ;)

    A fugly toy sat alone in a forest . . . is still a fugly toy! :D

Oh, and to be clear . . . when i said i was priced-out, i meant collecting Sofubi - not other toys.

At first I was seeing a clown, but then after reading your full commentary... I just can't unsee blackface/minstrel. Seeing that (some, not all but SOME) Asian countries can be a bit unaware of the offensive cultural significance of certain symbology and such, it wouldn't surprise me much. We've already seen enough Nazi toys, for instance.

It wasn't intentional. I just texted the guy on Instagram.

"Oh. Really up in Skullbrain? It is not related the blackface cartoon style. Actually Just inspired by the first monkey AlbertII rided V2 rocket up to space in 1949."

"The face was inspired by clown also. Especially that smile."

No more wondering now since this comes straight from his mouth.

I've seen one of these classic fugly toys pop up virtually every day on a retail site this past week.. maybe they found a whole box of them somewhere? Strange that they keep popping up, I'm sure it's at least the fourth blank flesh listed. Wait, make that the seventh according to the similar items listing... lol

Pretty much! One of the last sculpts Angel Abby released before they just relied on exhibiting other people's toys. I remember a medicom release a few years back, maybe they had high hopes for pre-order quantities and these leftover blanks were found in a box somewhere.

It was a lucid nightmare reflecting parts of my history and some people’s lives around me + the walking dead  , but aside from knowing the wd influence, it wasn’t funny at all . One of those that you can’t shake once you’re up, even tho you know it was a dream.

Who’s this by? I remember seeing a green one on Medicom’s site.

It takes a lot to gross me out or disgust me as far as toys go. When I was a Criminal Justice major, I saw some pretty fucked up stuff. MOST things don't phase me anymore.
So imagine my surprise when there's a toy I immediately react to with complete aversion. Seen it a few times on the IG #sofubi tag so maybe someone knows what I'm talking about. Looks like another damn Nag ripoff, except this one actually looks like the bloated corpse of a "floater". Aaaand not just any corpse, a baby corpse.
Autopsy babies don't bother me honestly, but this fucking thing does. It's just unnecessary. :?

I'm... not going to look at that. Autopsy babies are already too much for me. Thanks for the heads-up.
