New items up. That Hedo might make it's way into my cart. Or possibly a good excuse for a store visit.
I still haven't snagged Hedorah yet, but I get the feeling there will be plenty of cool variants of that one.
At the 30 second mark there's a boxed Reaction Rodan and a Reaction Hedorah with a somewhat sofubi-sh paint job.
I got this recently: Nice and chunky and glows well. I also got this recently: Nice and vintagey and greens well. Overall, having more fun with these than the Grimlocks.
So this big boy just showed up. (forgive my sticker skills) It feels a bit light / cheaply made, but I've never owned a Mazinger/Shogun type toy so not sure if that's what they were going for. Seams are very obvious and there are slight scuffs here and there. With that said, what a joy. The minute I opened it up and started rolling it around I felt like a kid on x-mas morning. Missiles pop very satisfyingly and overall it just screams "Play with me!" Just fun to have in hand and definitely something that I hope the kid and I can enjoy together once she's a bit older. Spoiler: Gratuitous family shot for scale
I got to play with the Mechagodzilla jumbo today, it's a fun toy! Chunky and heavy, all of the joints are tight and the missiles launch about four feet. The sculpt is not exactly what I imagine if Popy made this in the 1970s, but I think it would display perfectly with the Mattel Shogun Warriors Godzilla. One potential downside is that the tail is not attached when you unbox it. The plug is shaped in a way that makes it look like it could be difficult to remove after attaching it. (I qualify this with "potential" because we didn't actually plug the tail in. The owner wanted to get it back in the box.) Overall, though, it's chunky and fun and definitely has a lot of play value.
Having some fun with my Planet X diorama and the ReAction Godzilla figures! I'm thinking I'll call this missing showa film, "Godzilla vs the Space Bastards"
What are the odds that we'll start to see some non-Godzilla characters, like the Gargantuas or Frankenstein?
Yeah, Toho can license merchandise for all of those movie characters in the US except for Mechanikong, but given what we've been offered over the years, it seems like they steer their licensees towards the kaiju that have appeared in Godzilla films. Given what Super7 has done in the past with carded sets, though, it would be really neat to see Frankenstein/Baragon or a Gargantuas two-pack on a scaled-down lobby card or something like that.
I really like the Aurora one. That model kit was my Godzilla toy before the Imperial one came along. Looking forward to a painted version.
Can anyone tell me if Super7 ends up selling toys that are sold out, at conventions? As in they bring out extra stock to sell. Missed out on the Godzilla 1200, hoping I could get one from SDCC.
Well, every once in a while they send out email with "warehouse finds". Recently series 1 of the Universal Monster keshi. Besides that, I'd assume at one of their retail locations...
