Hmmm! . . . Depending on the Exchange rate I'd prefer to still buy from S7 rather than face hiked prices, shipping and ordering hassle from certain Euro distributors . . . I guess I'll just have to type faster!
Not enjoying that sweet Euro pie? Urp is Urp. Asia is Asia, eh? Anyway I do a ton of shopping with S7. Just trying to figure out if we're looking at a worldwide (outside of Japan) exclusive distribution situation for all the kaiju companies listed (including the setting up of exclusives), or if it's just a situation of S7 acting as a major (but not exclusive) distributor. In other words, Ningyoshi (a company that has recently sold several kaiju exclusives) is not on the list of retail partners. Does that mean they will not have a chance to sell new regular releases or exclusives from Secret Base, Real Head, etc?
Loving our £££ but at nearly 2:1 the $$$ is currently king . . . . the Euro blows chunks! Buying from USA and JPN direct even with fees and exchange is still generally cheaper than a lot of the Euro stealers . . . gawd bless'em! . . . but mainly it's the hassle factor. S7 customer service is the best I've had in nearly 10 years of collecting!
This seems very cool, and definitely shows that S7 puts their money where their mouth is in terms of having it be about the toys rather than the $$. Hopefully people outside of this community will realize this, instead of taking it for granted.
Really? I didnt know that. I've only ordered from them once, for their Cronic exclusive, and it was pretty smooth.
Since these figures will be distributed in larger numbers, will this force Anraku and Cronic the few artists that paint there own figures, to utilize factories to paint their figures for US releases?
In my discussions with Naoki, he's spoken strongly about wanting to paint the figures himself so collectors have something created directly by him. Having said that, I would agree that it would be extremely difficult for him to make *all* releases available both in Japan and the US without getting some help with the painting. After all, he's one of the only designers left who also holds down a full-time job (he's an architect). Well, I guess we'll see what happens in '08!
Cronic is Pure....since Naoki doesnt need the $ to get by all I can say is stay gold Cronic...Stay Gold !!!
Yes, so gold.... Chronic X Lamour in 08. all info for now. Back on topic, this globilization of Kaiju toys is brilliant. I'm glad you guys were the first to implement the system and much congrats because I don't think any of us can see the impact this has at the very moment.
Glad to see the love for Luke in Tucson!! Lamour, I can wait to see what ya got for '08! Sorry I missed the last package you had!
They probably had more of them. Rather than selling their allotment of Ringos at retail, they put them up on eBay. Not the first time they've done this.
You know what's funny is the first time I came here I thought why would I want to read 4 guys pissing and moaning. Now I come on 4 or 5 times a day to see what the same guys are going to say. I've said it before and I'll say it again, this really is an awesome community. I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to help. Looking forward to doing my part.
The only bad side is that I just hope it doesn't hurt S7 sales for people buying from the s7 store. As a CA resident I have to pay CA tax and shipping. (For my last purchase it was 15 dollars.) And some of those stores offer free domestic shipping over $100. Which saves me some cash.
Luke is a very cool dude, Im glad to see he is getting the chance to sell these toys regularly at his shop.
This is such good news, thanks for undertaking all of the dreary and unseen labor this task must require. As if S7 wasn't already a freakin' shrine, they keep on making it better! The upcoming database, this Distribution Network, etc. Only thing is, the Distribution Network needs a suitable name - maybe S7 will hold a contest to name it? Or ... With props to OPEC (one of the most successful 'distribution networks' ever), how 'bout calling it the Organization of Kaiju Resellers of America, aka OKRA (which also evokes a fitting 'green and slimy' mental image). I've repeatedly urged Brian to open a branch in South Beach - lotsa foot traffic, people spending vacation cash like it was Monopoly money, provides geographic and climatic balance to the SF location, etc. Currently, I am attempting bribery. Presumably it will not be necessary to escalate to blackmail, arson, or other popular felonies.
