Joes toys are some of my favorite being made today. This twin is just amazing. How he captures gore and cute so perfectly is very very hard to do. I need to snag me a bunch of these guys
Hey Folks - just a little update on the BLObPUS x SPLURRT shindig. I've seen Kaji's CK's and Usirs, and they look AMAZING! He's also done a run of Ugly Unicorns (all 3 runs are on GID vinyl), and he is doing some customs of his own figures. Joe has sent me some fantastic looking customs and a couple KILLER Dokugons. I'll also be painting up some Splurrt and Blobpus stuff, including some 'secret' painted figures for the Gacha machine (GID MICRO doku and salary blob), and the Arctic Evolved beast Diggler (to match Joe's work on the OG arctic dude - hopefully did good by it!). Show is in-store only through July 7th - online sales to commence in the AM on July 8th (which is PM on the 7th in the states). Party is the 5th. Who's coming
Skinner painted up a run of Cadaver Kids. Everything you could want and expect from Skinner, and they have a handpainted Header. He's releasing these on the 4th of July, info on his blog. http://www.theartofskinner.com/blog/
You have some awesome collaborations going Joe. I like the patchwork look on this kid. That said, I think that everything Skinner paints is a bit overpriced. They always sell out so I'm in the minority on this.
Those skinner CKs look like crap to me. good luck to whoever gets them, but these are just not my cup of tea. Its odd since skinner always does great paints in my opinion and these just look very 'meh'. Also, I hope this 'hand-painted' header is more than a piece of hardstock with some spray on it. Last time with the frenzy guys it looked like that and it was actually crappier than an actual printed header. Then again, who cares much about those. That said, the poster he did for mastodon is friggin' great.
Definitely my most high profile collab. Most expensive CK, yes. But skinner was just on the cover of Juxtapoze. He is a successful accomplished artist and it is not my place to tell him what his time is worth. He put a lot of time into these. I know 150 is probably too much for a lot of SB toy collectors who don't really collect art or Skinner and for you guys no worries, there is always another paint by me or the factory on the horizon.
When I grow up I want to be like Taco Bell Jim Henson, or Blobpus. Either would be fine. Blobpus paints! by Splurrt, on Flickr Blobpus paints! by Splurrt, on Flickr Blobpus paints! by Splurrt, on Flickr
Just wanted to thank KK Andy for his continued coverage of Japanese events, a great recap of the Rampage Studios show for those of us not lucky enough to be in Japan. http://www.kaijukorner.blogspot.com/2013/07/blobpus-x-splurrt-show-at-rampage.html
