Every post you've made in this thread is a defensive one. Not attacking you. Just stating facts. People are mocking/damning/shaking their head at you. Your response was to explain to them why you overspent and aided flipping. It is in defense. Then your responses to their responses were also in defense. I'll say this: I don't care! It's funny to me, I'm with the group laughing at you and the entire situation. There's nothing that can be posted that will save this thread from being pitiful and generally funny at the same time.
Get it straight. It's ok to buy $500 one-offs from Gargamel, but God help you if you spend $2000 on a Bemon. Too much! It's too much, I say!
Errr, I had a Toyota Tercel for $2000 when I was in college. Drove it from Ypsilanti, MI to Chicago. Was prepared to catch a bus back. Btw, rudebeast, its not a personal attack, just that you happened to be that guy. Funny why you didn't come across any 2-headed Bemon on YJA because there were easily 8 to 10 of them over one year and they went for much less than half of that. I mean many of us do spend stupid money on toys. One grand is not uncommon. But if you do a little research you will realize that you don't need to spend that much.
Have you considered the fact that by spending thousands from that seller you are actually encouraging him/her to continue to flip his/her own toys? You talk about hidden flippers on the board but that guy is doing the exact same thing...right?
This is the point Lixx hit upon before. It's a damn shame that RudeBeast's purchase is encouraging flipping...but come the fuck on (not you, bryce, in particular--I just mean in general). The man bought a fucking toy in this stupid, microcosmic niche hobby of ours. Keep in mind, just as an example, that hundreds of thousands more people spend a shitload more for shiny rocks dug up from the earth. Everyone spends money on dumb shit from time to time. Yeah, it's a bummer that *we're* indirectly affected by this purchase because it exacerbates a problem we all have to deal with...but whatever. The man bought what he wanted...then came out and honestly stated his reasons. I don't really call that "defensive", but again...whatever. This whole thing just seems dumb to me: for better or for worse, exclusivity has become a cornerstone of this hobby. Now that exclusivity is biting many of us in the ass with over-hyped shit and flipper marketing. Well what the fuck did you expect to happen? If these toys were as cheap and common as picking up a Transformer toy from Toys'R'Us, would you still be collecting them? If so, great...but because they're not that common, this is just a natural progression of the free market...
http://page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b119537379 I don't understand why we are all preaching to you considering that you are an old hand to YJA bidding. If I am not misunderstanding this, from your bidder information, this is the 4670th win on that auction board. That must be one impressive collection!
I believe that we are all sick for plastic! my salary allows me to smaller disease. forties (like me)that spend money on expensive toys, in general, are sick! we spend hours to try and write about plastic on SB ....other people go crazy for alloy wheels or chrome ... OCD is the nature of the collector ... I love my disease and I envy the salaries of those who can buy anraku and much in italy, to bid on YJA, we can use only rinkya. milanese, prima o poi organizzo una rapina a casa tua!!!
How much did the second drop for, I stopped paying attention. I kind of hope all 30 are sold this way. How would the bidding go when he got to 28-29-30? Would it drop a bit/a lot or go up more since the buyer would think "THIS IS IT MY LAST CHANCE IN LIFE EVAR TO GET THIS OUSAHFDGLK;AJG!"
once all of the asshats buy theirs, it would go down i would imagine. the next will go just as high. crogmagnon hasn't got his yet
playing devil's advocate here,,,do you really think he is going to sell the entire run on yja?? it would take over 6months to do... besides,,a large number always go to people within the inner sanctum of bemondry i would guess atleast half the run are accounted for from the get-go...
From past auctions he sells 3 and then that's it. The prices do go down but nothing below 500.00 .... ever. I definitely wouldn't pay this price, but don't get your hopes up for retail or even 3 times retail. If you get lucky you usually pay 500- to 650 for each. And to be honest this toy is worth every penny. I hopped for the bubble to burst, but it's been years and nothing has changed.
Someone should find out who the seller is on YJA, Bemon guy, or someone else? Anyhow find out what he's into and make a figure that he could not refuse and sell it back to him for the same price.
I'm also starting to think that the run of 30 is false. It seems that he has done 2 releases of the same vinyl with different paint apps. And the mixed parts where made up of previous vinyl. I'm thinking 30 is the total amount of each and then he divides them into runs and holds some for mixed parts. Just something I have been thinking about.
I'm almost TOTALLY sure it's Honda/Bemon guy or someone connected to him to do it on his behalf. From what I understand his distro method is a combo of YJA auctions and email list like Anraku. I'm not totally 100% but from info I've been given here and there and it seems to make sense. I doubt he drops the whole run via YJA but it'd be funny.
