I like Bemon stuff, but once he started doing this to screw foreign people over I got a sour taste in my mouth. If he wanted to make fans happy, put 5 of them up for JP retail via yja. Fastest clickers get them right? Lame.
Dude can buy a small house with just 2 runs of this size. I think its beyond taking advantage of the people that call themselves his fans. On the other hand, if I had dummies all over the world willing to put up that kind of scrilla for my shit, I might even have a hard time not letting them throw their wallets at me. Still lame though. I just want the red one
Just an FYI, this is not the CKA guy, Yoda-san. Apparently, the Bemon-maker, Honda-san, and he had a falling out last year and now the Bemon/Gorilla toys are being sold through other channels. I was under the assumption that they were cousins, so I don't know how long it will be this way. Also, I think there is rampant schilling going on in each of his auctions as well. Same dudes always pushes it to 99,999 or 100,000.
to be honest i picked up that bemon... do i feel like a fool? no i don't, it is indeed vinyl but it happens to be my favourite sculpt and brand and having just turned 40 i've decided to celebrate buying myself a nice present. is it too much? maybe but i'd rather buy directly from bemon instead of buying from a flipper (and as i'm sure you all know there are quite a few lurking on sb).
I love when the "I spent too much money, like WAY too much, like INSANELY TOO MUCH for the toy" guy/gal speaks up in defense.
Dude, I am happy for you but that is alot of cash for what should be at most 1/4 that price, if that. Makes me wonder what my red one would bring now (but no PM's, I am not selling). These prices will not hold forever. Sooner or later the whim of collectors will swing elsewhere. This only encourages higher prices still, that you will have to pay, I guess.
I know it's one of those..to each their own. But spending 2000 on a brand new toy that's going to sit on a shelf is hilarious to me. It's not a 'piece' but a toy...I don't know why but I find it really funny.
you might not feel like a fool, but surely you can see why other people think it's foolish to spend that much money on a brand new figure with a run of 30.
So... Hold on... Are you the super unbeatable guy that always outbids everyone and puts down tons of money?
Nope, I don't know who you're referring to when it comes to YJA because I've never bidded this much on anything else.
I do fly quite often to Japan but I also have a job (so limited time) and when it comes to Bemons I've never seen a two headed on sale unfortunately (just a couple of Kougai which I bought).
I think it's both, it's a wonderful toy and to me a piece, not in the sense of a 'single' piece but in the sense that I do consider toys pieces of design. At least that's the way I percieve them.
In defense of what? I think there are way too many people in SB that don't openly admit that they flip and at the same time say that flipping is lame, inventing absurb excuses to hide whatever they're up to et cetera. Considering I found a thread about the price of this Bemon, about how foolish I am to have bought it et cetera I thought it might be worth letting you know who picked it up. I don't feel I need to defend anything, I'm glad I have won the auction and can't wait to add him to my collection.
If you can shed some light on this then do and drop some names. I know useless toys wanted to flip on me once.
Rude I don't think anyone here is trying to tell you what to do with your money, nor is anyone saying a toy you really wanted is crap. It's just that we do try to keep flippers prices reasonable by encouraging people to hold off spending insane amounts of money on a hyped toy (It's just advice not telling you what to do with your money). If flippers know people will take the bait they'll always get away with being able to charge outrageous prices. If no one bites it comes down in price. This is especially true with newer people getting into this hobby who sometimes feel they have to get everything or they'll never see it again. Trust me things come around. Everyone here is at a different income level so obviously people with alot of money to spare are just going to throw it around, but in the long run holding off sometimes nets you a better price. But hey if you're cool with it and have the cash to spare who am I to tell you what to do?...
