In collaboration with Bear Model, Shima-X has been working to produce limited edition releases of Jumbo Machinder style sofubi villains, the most recent being Rokuron Q9. Next to be released is Mechasaurus Doba, a kikaiju from Getter Robo who had yet to receive the jumbo treatment. The original color of Doba will be limited to 40pcs and is set to launch September 20 with a retail price of 42,900yen tax included. For updates, please tune in to sofvi.tokyo or follow Shima-X on Instagram. Shima-X does ship internationally. Unfortunately, at this time they are only willing to accept payment by bank transfer. I successfully purchased their Rokuron Q9 using OFX. They don't collect any fees, however, it is a method of wire transfer (i.e. you wire them the money and they will pay the recipient on your behalf), so an amount may be collected by your bank or an intermediary. In the end I believe I incurred a total fee of 2,000yen. If anyone is serious about making a purchase but doesn't feel comfortable using the aforementioned method of payment—you would otherwise buy it should another option be available—please let us know your thoughts and we may be able to work something out. The CEO of Shima-X is passionate about making these robots, and they hope to bring you more villains that never got the jumbo treatment they deserved.
I don't know if I could budget for this in time, but will personally be watching the line with great interest. I'm sure many others on the board will follow along as well. Excited to see the final painted product, as the sharpness of the colour sample image is throwing me off, but the overall styling looks totally in line with the jumbos I've seen.
Just a few days left to preorder the original color of Doba! Here are a few more shots via SHIMA-X on Instagram: View this post on Instagram View this post on Instagram View this post on Instagram Next up is Garada K7. For any collectors who weren’t fully satisfied with Unifive’s reproduction or simply missed out, Dragon Boy x Bear Model have made a favorable alternative with proportions closer to the original Popy toy. Details on painted versions are still to come, but here are some shots of the prototype courtesy of sofvi.tokyo. These unpainted samples may be purchased directly from Bear Model HERE—I don’t think they take international orders and they only accept payment by bank transfer or COD, so anyone outside of Japan who is interested would need to utilize both Tenso and OFX. Regardless, it doesn’t hurt to issue an inquiry to see if they may be willing to accommodate you. The prototype brown Doba is also available HERE. The last bit of news I have to share is just a rumor (i.e. nothing set in stone). All I will say is fans of GID vinyl may have something to look forward to.
Original color Garada K7 incoming! I was very happy to see they modified the chest plate to match the design of the original Jumbo Machinder—minus the launcher of course—and bulked up the feet (those on the prototype were looking a bit flat and too rounded). Hands down the best and most proportionally accurate reproduction to date. Photos courtesy of sofvi.tokyo.
The redesign of the blades on the back is also super nice a beauty of a toy for anyone with the real estate to display it
Man I hope mine did? I write to them but they don't respond which is weird for these type of companies.
I tried using TransferWire but it was complicated due to the Japanese letters, very weird. Tried OFX on Friday and apparently it worked. I have been able to speak with someone from the company during all this period, you should try it again.
Glad you were able to issue payment with OFX. I haven't had any trouble working with them and they were pretty helpful any time I called to ask questions and verify outgoing payments. As for Shima-X, I believe there's a language barrier within their financial department. If you're trying to contact them via e-mail and still haven't received a response, try getting in touch with Aky via the Shima-X Instagram. He's been helpful when I needed him and fairly quick to respond. https://www.instagram.com/shimaxcorptoys/
Thanks ! Strange thing is that I was getting email regularly with someone until I managed to send the payment. Since then, I sent them 3 emails but never got any answers. Just wanted to confirm if they got my payment Will follow your advise and try to get in touch through Instagram.
@ji I had had the same issue with shimax, he does respond to my emails but then says that something happens with covid and thus far can't confirm my payment. I know my bank has double confirmed the money was sent. I wonder if Shimax thinks that i want the toy deliver or he doesn't have it ready yet. I love his version of this Garada K9 so I am willing to wait. I will also try to reach through instagram @HBCoffin thanks for the pointer.
@fosa comun : yeah, I had the same reply, he mentionned something similar but I never have guessed he would not be able to call his bank Let's wait end see !
A while back they had trouble confirming my payment for the Garada, but I think enough time just hadn't passed for the transfer to complete processing. I sent them a copy of my receipt... never heard back after that. I've spoken to Aky since though (unrelated to jumbo production) and he hasn't mentioned anything. He was the last person to notify me they hadn't confirmed payment so I assume he'd give me a heads up if they were still unable to verify.
I got a reply after contacting them using their message page. So, the shipping date is expected to be at the end of the month. Apparenly, since they are still doing the production they didn't really had time to check the payment, they will do it last.

Missed out on the Doba and the original K7 but have thrown my name into the hat for the GID K7 - I love the jumbo scale and my Mattel Godzilla needs a few friends.
I was wondering the same thing... The last post could let think that the lottery already took place though...
Heard from ShimaXCorp today, via email, after I enquired what what was happening, and they are supposed to be notifying winners on Wednesday
I'm not in the US (UK) but they have told me that postage has been interupted by the war in the Ukraine and restrictions on where EMS will deliver to. Not sure if that helps at all?
