The only thing that could make this toy worse would be if an Obama poster came with it.

I dug this when I saw the drawing of the character, but the actual sculpt just makes me sad...

I had to read this twice because I thought it was a Barry Mcgee toy. I still have and love the toy he did with Tokion. I felt it was perfectly "obey".

The Tokion piece was nice, I still have one.
I need the Barry McGee one to finish the set.

Isn't hat one is still pretty sought after? I had a non toy collector ask me about it once. He said he had been trying to win on ebay for a year. I had no answers for him on how hard it was to obtain.

I've been searching for a reasonably priced one for three years.
I've seen only two surface and they went north of $500.
    I should shut up now...

Well, in fairness, it does suck. I didn't even need to see who produced it.

It says it's ldt but there's like... how many versions!? And it's not even out yet, is it?
I like mascots in general. But I feel this one is trying to hard. This guy, Mr Spray, should impersonate himself as Mr. Clean or something, I have a feeling he would do better as a cleaning product mascot.

If you've seen the film Exit Though the Gift Shop, it's obvious that he should have done a Mr. Brainwash version where the can is a Campbell's Soup can that says "Spray". Maybe it could be called Mr. Spraywash.

Muy cool, and the rare example of a toy catching the original vibe of a certain regional zeitgeist really well ... in this case the McGee/Kilgallen sort of aesthetic of 20 - 10 years ago. Vastly superior to Mr. Spray, which looks like a desperate (and rushed) last gasp to hold on to long-lost street cred.

If Fairey would simply embrace his current life role as the very talented graphic designer that he is, there would be no need for tired-ass E-Z "irony," which by this point is the last resort of the ideas-challenged, the laziest way to milk the sucker lemmings.

This is one of the pieces I've always looked at as a perfect example of an "art toy". Very true and close to what Barry does in other mediums. And I respect the fact that there was no attempt on his part, to agree and produce a follow up to bleed dry the idea of selling some more.

doesn't the head pop off and make to make a marker. i'd love to have this one and the Kilgallen one.... but yeah, too much $$ for me.

I really dig the mr. spray as a poster... but boy does it look like shit in 3d form.

I'm confused: why are people getting heated about this thing supposedly "biting" the Orkin man? It's obviously an homage to that style of artwork from way back, just like a lot of COOP's artwork is an evolution of classic pin-up/pulp pop art from back in the day.

    The point is, it blows.

    Let's move on.

I'm lucky enough to own a Fairey and I've met him. He is easily one of the nicest, most genuine people you'll ever meet. He sat at the gallery during his show with a group of High School students BS-ing while the big money folks were busy snapping up his stuff. He still hits the streets and put shit up himself. Having said this I have never seen one of his toys really work, some styles just aren't suited for it and I think it damages his work a little bit.
