My first Chaosman figure. I had forgotten how cool the adult sized RxH figures were. Wish they were easier to get, and I wish I had taken the 6 hours drive to game of hope last month. But I have to live with the choices I make, and be happy I have this!
The last year, OG scores have been few and far between, so it was nice to find the mutant head to complete this duo.
That’s a helluva good Pheyaosman, not to mention just about everything else in that pic… really nice!
Not sure if i ever took a good photo of this one. I've had it for some time. Mori doesn't do a lot of clear-with-glow-pour figures, so this stood out.
I'm clueless about this one. i'm guessing maybe a micro run. found it in the wild. i thought the Chaos Beast was a cool concept, and it was nice to see something colorful. i've only seen a lot of black vinyl base painted stuff. EDIT: released in 2011. There was an unpainted version, and the painted. Very probably a micro run. --Thanks, Daniel.
It only took about 17yrs, haha--much nicer in-person than i anticipated. super-thankful about finding this one.
Was that really just a normal release? I've seen so few of them, that I mentally put it under the 'limited' category. Beautiful.
The Mook says it was a Thrash Out release, so i take that as "not exactly"? but yeah? I wish i could be sure. Back in 2005, a regular release might be still quite few compared to 2008 stuff, but i'm just speculating.
Yep, I've spent too many years looking at old school RxH figures online, and that beauty is limited. I rarely see that one. Makes me think of Sakura, falling petals etc ...
Thrash Out as in a Gargamel release? Takes me back to the mid 2000s. I know the adult ones are all the rage, but I still love the OG figures.
That's a phenomenal Evil. Is the base white / off-white / cream? Had 2 copies of the mook due to an ordering glitch but I can't find either one of them. Comprehensive would obviously be impossible (and not really something I'd want) but can you imagine what an update today would look like?
The base is GID. it's just got an old look to it. This piece is almost 20yrs old. can you believe it? Now that this line of figures is more or less retired-- in a perfect world-- i would love a picture book of OG releases. of course, this would probably inspire a surge of interest that might make collecting them much harder. Stuff would probably come into circulation, but the bid wars would suck nuts. the upside is that we could appreciate stuff we would never see otherwise. i have found beautiful figures that i had no idea even existed over the years. it makes me wonder what else is out there. I always wondered what happened to all of the OG releases Mori had in his cabinets before the "adult" figures became popular. I would love to see that in-person--or offer a free open-storage service at my house so that they may be appreciated (if Mori has them in tubs somewhere).
Back in the early days, my recollection is that a lot of the new companies 'debuted' at Thrash-Out. For example, the first Mutant Chaos was sold at Thrash-Out. Link to the post on Gargamel's blog about the Evil below. So I guess it is something like an event exclusive? http://blog.livedoor.jp/gargamel/archives/17499373.html Perhaps I am romanticizing the past, but it's kind of nice to think of Gargamel fostering the new companies and makers and gathering them at Thrash-Out to show off their creations.
It kind of seems that way. And i thought one of the Ikeda brothers sculpted the Evil Head? Oh the first Chaos...i wish i could land that one again.
