Nice colorway on that one @xSuicide Squadx I wish i'd grabbed a few of those Mirock sculpts when i had the chance to buy them retail. Didn't he sculpt them in wood? I'm pretty sure i remember that correctly.
I recall thinking the same. I'm sure his process was detailed on the old blog when they first dropped. Grabbed most of the Chaos collaborations but the Evil and MH were pretty killer too!
OK, but I'm pretty sure the RxH sculpts he did were done in actual wood. It helped with the sharp angular style. It was fairly early on in Mirock history.
Here is the answer: http://www.skullbrain.org/bb/index.php?threads/mirock-studio-tour-and-sculpting-demo.37195/ FYI, the link to the interview is dead. I hope he saved those interviews somewhere, as they were pretty interesting.
Thanks for the link. I found the other interviews, which are buried pretty deep on his Wordpress site. Glad he rehosted them. Here is the interview with RxH from 2010: https://sqdblstr.wordpress.com/portfolio/rxh-interview/ I'll post the others in threads related to the interview subject.
Wow, the photo quality drops off quite a bit here. No surprise, this is a repost of a post, almost xeroxing a xerox. Either way, this was a grail find from early 2016 for me.
^^ Lovely stuff. Like the clear Tanuki and i don't think i've ever seen an unpainted Eel Cat before. Here is my collection of Mini Oni Heads / Mash-ups, so far . . . . i'm always looking for more!
Never thought I would be able to grab one of these beauties! Friend mentioned that the red spray on the belt is due to Mori doing random details for a run. The regular version had a silver spray. Can anyone else confirm that is something Mori does? Hadn't noticed that for other runs, but then again its not always easy to see where they all end up.
@IronPaw It’s true! I talked with Mori at his shop about the painting. Majority of it is done by Goto - San, but Mori does a lot of the detailing, such as belts, rubs, eyes, bandana, etc. So this is a very high possibility!
Historically, sometimes yes, sometimes no. I remember that the 1/8 size Callgrim had a release at SDCC, and then a wider release via Rawshark's website. There were slight paint differences between the two. On the other hand, the Rotofugi Toy Karma Mutant Chaos had a run for the show, and a later made-to-order run, and I don't think there were any differences. That said, since Mori switched to micro runs, there is probably more opportunity for variation between the various runs.
Got this beauty of an adult, clear orange with some copper rub. Glow in the dark nubs! Thanks dude, this is your fault!
Good lord, the GID inserts in the arms are such a nice detail. I've never seen that on an adult before.
