One of my favorite parts of the sculpting on the captain, is the little bone tied into the hair. Adds something, even though it's so small.
Yetiman, I have a little theory... That bone adds "narrative inspiration". It's a tiny detail whose absence we wouldn't notice, but has the potential to inspire a spontaneous backstory. Or, if you were a little kid, actually playing with the figure - it could inspire a little bit of narrative story telling and action. Best example of a classic run of toys that had "narrative inspiration" nailed down was the original TMNT series. Every character, but especially the villains, were detailed with extravagant bits and bobs.
