It’s not even 3m total when all the money is spoken for and with attorney fees, homeboy isn’t really getting a fancy payout. I hope they’ll settle and give the guy a buck and the band can just continue to live as a defunct act. It’s not like the money isn’t there and it’s not like the model shouldn’t get a cut after all these years for basically an iconic image. As for the charges, yeah, the guy should’ve begun making waves as soon as he felt uncomfortable but that was then and this is now. How the picture was taken at the time and the lack of paperwork is careless, fitting for the most iconic grunge band of all time I guess. And that dude is so freaking shameless. Makes me think of the girl on the one Vampire Weekend album. She sued/got paid for them using her photo without permission. Differences here are she sued immediately, not 30 years later. Also, Vampire Weekend used her photo unbeknownst to the girl. Nevermind baby's parents were fully aware Nirvana wanted to use it.

Good for him! I hope he gets a giant payout and everyone still living in the early 90s when the Nirvana estate wasn't worth hundreds of millions of dollars, and hadn't been co-opted for decades by much bigger and nastier dollar-chasers than this man, stays really mad about it

It's pretty much this and the fact that his parents were paid I think 200 dollars. Everytime Nirvana has a rerelease or anniversary it brings more aware to the album. If anything the kid should be pissed at his parents.
