Noticed Skull Head Butt has a few new figures out and I don't think they've done anything in a while. I Like the Moguron. Space monster Moguron Pock Lee?
Diggin' both of these. The Moguron is particularly cool, I like the scales on the body and the hands a lot! I think the head looks kind of like the mini-Hedorah that Kill! did a while back! I wonder if the SHB guys were inspired by his work?
I've always enjoyed Skull Head Butt stuff. They are highly underrated. Loving the spider web-esque plating on Mogron. That green one is just a sample / proto. Here is the first release:
Yeah, I was shocked to see these pop up on their blog. I see they've adopted the ever-present "Marmit eye."
i think its a bit of an evolution from their headbutt sculpt but kevin nealon as a monster with boob horns is awesome. i love lil nicky, although most disagree
I must track down a GID Pock Lee, so cute. Anyone know if these made it online anywhere? I like the green proto Moguron 10x more than the standard release.
I saw Skull Head Butt is putting out new Zagorans with the vintage body and newly-sculpted Gomess and Jirass inspired heads. Does anyone have any info on colors they've done so far, or how to get these?
I got the Jirass one on yahoo auctions couple months ago. I think there are may be 4 colorways of this guy, not 100% sure. There are about 4 or 5 head variants for the Zags and also one with wings onto the body.
The first release of ゴラース was offer in August 2020 as a pre-order on FB directly from Akamatsu-san for both Japan and International. Price was 25,000 yen. First release: Other releases have been at events or his gallery shows which I believe were mainly small runs or 1-offs. There was a green/blue color with glitter version that he sold on his Marmit online shop back in November 2021. This one:
That blue glitter one looks excellent. 25,000 yen, though, wow. I remember when the Hukkokudo reissues were 8,000.
I've noticed many of these Target Earth re-issues from Marmit have been priced higher than the usual SHB stuff (Bugun, and the Parabola Ace especially). Not sure if its a bit of a "licensing" fee Marmit has to pay TE? Or just the fact some if those TE figures had been fetching higher prices on the secondary market beforehand? Either way, I assume Kazu has done some extra tooling over some casts of the Target Earth sculpts to create these. There is also the one with wings (Feather Zag?):
That is much cooler than the one HOPToys was working on. My understanding was that Hukkokudo was a Marmir brand. Why would Target Earth be involved with these?
I did *not* know that! Which is extremely likely, sometimes I accidentally stumble upon uncommon knowlege. But more often than not, I'm oblivious to things everyone has been knownt on for years. Very interesting! Wait, so I'm less familiar with all the reissues Hukkokudo has done (Mostly just know about Hedoran, Tetran, Shamonger, Space Ape and a few others). So, am I all mixed up? Does that mean Target Earth never actually re-sculpted their own Zagoran release? Is it just a recast of a vintage Zag? Are those all basically the same as how Hukkokudo does re-issues? Am I just totally wrong that I always see Zagorans like this labeled "Target Earth" (I assumed they had reimagined more classic 'Monsters of the World' than just Bugun). I guess the only ones that are super obvious to spot as completely re-sculpted Zags are Siccaluna's, Gargamel's, and the more realistic one from Marmit that I have.
I found this 10 year old post from @akum6n, maybe there is more info since then: http://skullbrain.org/bb/index.php?threads/target-earth.21072/page-23#post-831596
Yeah, I don't think anything has really changed since that post. - From the information that has been given to me, Marmit, Target Earth, Hukkokudo and SkullHeadButt were/are all part of Marmit. I thought in the past, some of them were operated more independently from Marmit, but it seems kind of like they are much more Marmit-centric now. Hukkokudo stopped operating some years ago and Target Earth seems to have succeeded to any molds that it had. - There was a vintage Zagora made by Daikyo. Hukkokudo made repros of this Zagora. I guess Target Earth took over production after Hukkokudo ended. - Target Earth produced an original sculpt of Bagun 1, based on the original illustration. There is no vintage Bagun.
ok thanks, I missed that and just saw the typical right hand in the air villian. I guess I miss stuff, by not knowing what the reference is sometimes.
