Wow, I can't believe Kyuuketsu Koumori (Vampire Bat) Ningen is already done! DR is a machine. Cobra Ningen looks great as well... the paint scheme choices have been top-notch with that figure.
Cobra Ningen...awesome Flytrap...not bad Kyuuketsu Koumori Ningen...meh but all these new DR figures are looking great together. Looking forward to the next characters.
Loving the orange tones on Cobra Man. And I really need to add the new bat sculpt to my set. Hope Mark offers it up on his site.
I would contact Max Toy. They have done preorders for some of the other kaijin figures. His blog said advance sales at Design Festa, so I suspect DR is going to do a similar/identical mail-order run.
Spoiler So happy I was able to sneak in and score this colorway of Cobra Ningen. I love how the purple/pink of the mouth(s) stand out, and the scales on the back of the figure look more like a touch of realistic snake to go with the overall sculpt. Stoked !
HaHa...maybe second to last...I was just doing the computer rounds, checking out LuLu, and I almost wet myself. I checked back after I ordered, and it was up for another 10 min. or so...so happy to get one, even if it is eating into the SDCC budget
Argh! What'd I miss? Those guys look great. Loving this new direction DR is going in...Cobra Man, Venus Flytrap Man and now Vampire Bat Man.
Ahhhh... totally missed these! But it didn't really matter, cause I'm broke right now .... oh well...gotta start saving up for next time .....
LuLubell had the Cobra Ningen ( ...at the very least, cause I got one...) and i'm not sure if they had the Vampire Bat ( sounds like it ) or the Fly Trap dude for a short time on their site for pre-order yesterday...
Kicking myself for missing the Cobraman release at Lulu but I snagged Devil Bat from Mark. I liked the green color way Lulu had up first, but I am just as happy snagging the purple version. I love this new set of figures because they feel like Super Sentai villains. Regardless, the DR stuff and the Max Toy releases all dovetail really nicely and mix well on a shelf. Looking forward to San Diego to see what Mark has up his sleeve. Eyezon feels like it is just a few days away fro pre-order so I feel like I need to pace myself.
It's definitely nice but I don't have to have it like I did the first version. The body colors feel out of place next to the head, arms and legs colors.
The first version, as first versions sometimes are, was more "literal." Unified color scheme, suggestion of relationship to actual Venus fly traps (and trapped flies) in real life. The newer release looks more like the wild creativity of master kaiju sculpter-painter Yajima-san to me.
