If I interpreted the Google translation of the blog correctly Butanohana has an open by appointment exhibition going on. Anyone in Japan that could go and take high-resolution pictures? Pretty please! Would be amazing to see in person... σ(≧ε≦o)
Wow, that is heavenly. What a great idea. I know there are a few of us who would swoon at that exhibit. Problem is, it would also be torture to go there, and not be able to touch of the toys! Such bitter-sweet joy.
^ True. I'd make up for it by shoving my face too close to every toy and spend ages smelling everything.
INSANE!!! I'd love to be able to go there. wonder if theres anything in the gacha though..? so is it just a temporary exhibit?
^^ Great questions! Now we'll just have to wait for someone who communicates/reads Japanese fluently...
That would be so great to go there. Especially if it was a chance to meet Ohashi. I'd beg him to make a new release of Jirass! I'm assuming the framed artwork are the original art for the micro inserts. Those would be wonderful to see in person.
We had an original piece for one of the balls out shows. I got to meet him once and trade toys. I have begged a few times for him to make a buta globby to no avail. Super sweet guy.
Anybody know an ex-pat that we can bother to go do some photo reportage over in the storefront studio? I crawled in Andy's ear about it but he didn't think he'd be able to make it over.
New pic of the new sculpt on the blog. Does anyone have any clues as to who this character might be?!? Doesn't strike me as a Chibirakun character, but I'm no expert.
very interesting if those are doll eyes, would be a first for buta wouldnt it.. this guy is really fun.
yea you might be right. i think its the position of the pupil that threw me off. or maybe the eyes are concave..?
yes, the glare and shadow definitely give the illusion of being transparent and convex though. it totally looks like a doll eye in the photo. but you can see the pupil paint being hand done so youre right im sure.
Oh! That's lovely. Everytime I think 'that was my last buta' but that's just a ridiculous thought... It looks like a mascot of something.
Very cool. Definitely a fun and classically Buta sculpt. The peanut makes me think it is some kind of advertising linked toy, which is unusual, but the sculpted heart also is reminiscent of Robocon guys. I am sure there is ample backstory to this figure. All's I can think about right now though it how great he would be to carry everywhere for photos, especially table and pantry bombings.
Ha! Now you've opened the door. This calls for a bombardment of peanut-themed characters. And of course.
Now THAT really is an exciting new character!!! The cuteness factor is right up there! Wondering about the significance of Peanut as well, and the only thing I could find, was that there was a twin sister singing group, known as The Peanuts, and they sang in the film Mothra http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Peanuts oh, and, there used to be a Mr. Peanuts factory, down the hill from my Mom's house. When they were cooking or distilling, or whatever they did, you could smell peanuts all over that neighborhood! I miss that GIGANTIC neon sign of Mr. Peanuts too, made quite an impression on a little kid, prolly worth quite a bundle today! oh, oh, and!
