I wonder about the size of it as well. The necks appear to be longer, but the neck joint connects directly to the face on the torso instead of there being a little space. Plus this appears to be leaning forward quite a bit.
I'd love to know the scoop from both makers on the Siccaluna piece. It's crazy as a toy nerd what your brain quickly goes through when you see that. After initially not being sure what I think of it, I'm definetly interested to see more. And I hope there is no sofubeef
Sofubeef fingers crossed it's all just goodwill and developing on each other's designs. Hadn't seen the pink marbled Nekomata until recently and by god, that thing looks beautiful. I think I've got to put some time and energy into making that my first.
I can say with 110% certainty that there is no sofubeef. That being said, @MonstaIslandCzar, I fully agree, and have said myself, that I would love to see some battle sets between the two artists. Obviously it'd bad ass if Dennis and Miyazawa - San painted their own sets, but it'd be killer if they did their own paints on each other's toys, adding more dichotomy to the releases between each artist.
Welp, I found a hookup for the pink marbled set. Shipping from HK will be a killer but I'm grateful to have all the figures for basically retail. Gotta love community.
Took some fun photos in the park today; I'll be posting them slowly on here and IG. Nekomata wasn't the only figure I brought with me, but as always it's a highlight:
There are one-offs and then there are 0ne-offs. Dennis let me pour and pull the arms and legs of this beauty. A wonderful reminder of our last trip to Japan.
Besides being a beautiful piece, the fact that you have participated even a bit in the manufacture of the piece gives an extra value to me, it is a connection between the figure and a particular happy moment. That's why I like these pieces so much (Neko & Kumon) every time I see them they give me a feeling of happiness. I really like how black marbling streaks are seen on the face of the Nekomata! Thank you for sharing the photo and the story.
Since we're feeling the black-and-gold love, here's an angle I really enjoyed the other day. I love trying to make toys look as huge and monstrous as the sculpt suggests.
Thank you sir, I am totally with you, we need more painted cats and it would be interesting to see some calico.
@BrainDeadBrum Thanks, as far as I know it is a micro run that Dennis did for the Kimono my house store and the Nekomata colorway is based on the store owner's cat.
I know it was a ‘pre-order’ (unless there was more demand than supply) but received an email regarding the DX today - pretty happy about that. Anyone else?
