I thought about reposting a comment from that thread but then I realized that Quentor has already read it and even commented several times on the issue. Makes this whole thing so much more ironic. I hope it ends up playing out the same in the end, at least Adam had enough sense to move on.
I was originally gonna put this in a DM, but fuck it. I lost my Tio to cancer a few years back, and I currently have three people I care about battling it at the moment(though I believe in recovery), two of which are fellow collectors. All in all, the situation encompasses this to me: if the situation is legit, and I personally think it is, do whatever the fuck you feel you have to do, in order to take care of your own. If it's not, and there's the off chance it's blowin' smoke up people's asses, then you'll reap what you sow. Either way, I'll express my condolences for the unfortunate situation to one of the worst things that literally eats away at a human, and I hope you and your boy will be alright.
All I'm saying @quentor is that if you said something earlier, you wouldn't have had to say everything you did now. If grief kept you from warning us about an eBay purge and asking us not to pass judgement, (which I'm sure we would have easily forgiven due to the circumstances) it sure hasn't stopped you from complaining about people's attitudes towards rehoming toys. People got pissed because you did it without warning and we assumed the worst because this kind of crap has happened time and time again... someone flips everything, says a big fuck you to everyone, and they're gone. That's pretty much all I have to say going forth with the matter. I hope you resolve your issues the best you can. And @smurph - back in the wee days of my arrival to this forum, you chewed me out and made it very clear that you had blocked me. If I annoy you, then maybe you should continue doing so.
Well I can assure you it's very real. I don't know, I get about 1 minute every morning when I wake and I sometimes am able to forget it's real. Then it all sinks in. I myself went to the hospital thinking I was having a heart attack, but it was panic. I do talk to people here about it. Brent knows, other people have helped me through it on these boards. Unfortunately Amy didn't make a will, so even though I'm getting custody I have to prove custody in the court. This is costing $6-10,000 as well. DNA testing, all that is required. Until I have open enrollment in the spring, my son can't be on my insurance, and Amy needs thousands of dollars in pain meds a day, and she lives at the hospital. Without insurance they will send her home to die in pain. I can't let my son watch that or let her go through that. This is beyond real, and if you have nothing like this going on in your life appreciate each breath, because we are surviving this hell one day at a time. I feel like the phone call is coming any day now that she has passed. It's quite easily the hardest time of my life.
Dude you don't have to justify your actions to whatever toy police are hovering over this post. I have no doubt the vast majority of people on here will respect your situation and not give you grief. Major kudos for handling the situation the best you can with what you've got. Life sucks sometimes, I'm sorry both you and @xSuicide Squadx are contending with ailing friends and family - we have a funeral Friday for my husband's uncle that just died suddenly from undiagnosed pancreatic cancer on Monday. It's horrible. I'm really sorry guys - you do what you gotta do.
Some of you are seriously suggesting that he needs to move on and leave the group now simply because he stuck a toy on ebay? And he did that after offering it to some people here and getting low-balled? That's intense. Creates a nice environment of fear. Real sense of community here....after a long time being part of it all, stick one damn toy on ebay to pay for your loved one's cancer treatment, and you are OUT. People can do whatever the hell they want with what they own. You know, sometimes, when you really need money and are forced to sell something you love, you might HAVE to sell it for more than you paid. In fact, you might need to do that just because if you sold it for what you bought it at, you'd regret it forever and feel it was not worth it to sell it at all. I don't think anyone needs to explain themselves in any way before choosing to put something on ebay and getting a decent price for it when they need it most. No one should have to beg forgiveness ahead of time or say why it's necessary or ask for permission. Sure, it's nice to offer here first, and if someone regularly chooses not to do that, then maybe don't give them any great deals either. Tit for tat. But to suggest you have violated some crazy taboo and must be expelled from the group simply for selling something where you can get a good price because you really must, that's insane. If Quentor spoke against it before, and is now doing it, that's probably not hypocrisy. It's simply growing up and realizing the real world demands compromises sometimes. Now he won't judge others who have to do the same and neither should we. Collectors buy; collectors sell. They own it and they can do whatever the hell they want with it. Despite that orange ass winning the election with help from his Russian overlord, this isn't a dictatorship YET. Oh god, did I go THERE?
Quentor doesn't have to justify anything. No one does. It's your toy, do what you want with it. No one can judge what you spend your money on. But people should accept the fact that others will lose trust in you and not want to deal with you anymore. Quentor knows this and I appreciate him making the decision that is best for him and his family, despite the sacrifice. Fuck cancer. I still believe that if you have a crisis in your life you can come to this community and ask for help. Raffling off a toy here could raise lots of money. Board members do this every year! I dontate toys to raffles on here and elsewhere as often as I can. And Quentor, if you decide to do this I would be more than happy to participate. So the following is not aimed at him but those who continue to question why people get upset with flipping. It really amazes me that this concept has to be repeatedly explained on here because it's really quite simple, so here we go again: If you enter a lottery and then immediately sell the toy for a profit (regardless of where the profit is going) you will piss off a lot of people on this board and in the community, AND many toy makers who have specifically spoken out against this. Is it really that mind-boggling that other collectors of this toy and even the makers would want you to refrain from entering future lotteries?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Most people sell their toys on here to other collectors at a reduced rate providing deals to other community members. If you take these deals and make a profit (regardless of where the profit is going) people will be annoyed and upset, and likely not want to sell to you anymore. Is it really that hard to understand why people would feel betrayed and at least annoyed by this?!?!?!? @malinablue I know that you provide some great deals to board members, thank you. But from what I've seen, most of your activity on here is either asking for help getting toys from abroad or selling of droves of toys that you regret buying. From this, it appears you utilize this board mostly for buying an selling so it's not a surprise that you don't seem to understand the bigger picture here. You need to participate in a community to really understand the benefits. It's like the freedom of speech argument that so many have trouble understanding. You can say what you want, but there are repercussions so you should accept that and not act surprised when people tell you to fuck off. There are pretty much 3 main expectations around here that are pretty much present in any functional community: Don't steal from others Don't take advantage of others Don't say offensive things to others That's called being civil, not a dictatorship. But this is all my opinion of course, as was my original comment.

You know what, this is all true. I know it. That fact is, I was very torn about selling one piece only. The Nekomata. For exactly these reasons. I am taking the huge risk that Dennis will not ever let me be a part of his releases in the future. I get that. I'm not asking for people to not be upset. I'm not saying this is okay in any way. That is why I didn't mention it here. What I am saying is, I have no choice. If Dennis cuts me off, well, I have to deal with that. If you guys don't like me anymore, that is fine too. I need my son. I have been fighting for 10 years to get him, and I would do anything, even lose you guys, to be with him finally. Life got bigger than these toys. I love Dennis, I love this figure, I love it all, I wish I could afford to keep it. *I want you to know that I have given away plenty. I donated over $100 to the suicide fundraiser. When I sell in a sales thread, I always take a loss. I love hooking up my fellow collectors just as you hook me up. I just gave away an MVH piece because @uselesstoys gave me one a while back, and I believe in Karma. So monsterislandczar is correct. I'm ashamed. ~But when you're sitting in the hospital, too broke to get custody of your son because you're scared to sell a toy for what you know it is worth? It doesn't make sense. My Dad just said "Ryan, I know you love those people, your online community, and I know you may suffer a loss there, but it's nothing compared to the loss of not getting your son, and watching Amy suffer." We added up what the toys, my car, and my skateboards would bring, and it was close to what I need. I had to go adulting and I'm prepared to take the consequences of my actions. Also, I realized that I can't even enjoy these toys until I get this sorted. I can't go home and relax looking at my detolf while I cry over not having my son, and the only burden in my way is fearing what you guys will think of me. I can't. I'm sorry guys. I'm so sorry for you and your family, @quentor... I think your last post will put it into perspective for those who didn't understand before. I've never gone the route you've chosen, but I get why you have. Weighing it out, here you have items that could bring in good $ to help you towards all the expenses necessary to (1a) getting custody of your son, (1b) taking care of your hospitalized dying wife, and (1c) preparing for her funeral..., although there are also people out there who (2a) would have liked to have these toys at retail, (2b) missed out on this lotto release, and (2c) will be upset with you, possibly even no longer selling to you, in the toy community... The scales CLEARLY lean to option 1. With whatever follows, just be confident in your decision. Life truly isn't fair and our ideas & decisions are all we have control over ... oh, and our penises. I understand not doing a raffle because you risk not getting even retail for what each toy's worth, although honestly it's the same with 0.99 listings. Aside from just selling things you own of value though, if you haven't done so already, you need to start a funding page at https://www.youcaring.com/, then with it, tell yall's story across each of your social media outlets (including here), getting friends and family to spread the word as well. All you can do is throw every and any idea that may work out there and hope for the best. Here's hoping, man.

I would like to go on record and say that I believe in cats and dogs coexisting perfectly as wonderful pets. Hamsters suck tho, it's been proven.
