What do you get when you combine the following? 1 square meter of glass of 5/8" thick glass 2 printing press trays 2 antique steel frames 4 brackets 10 meters of black steel wire my collection of stormtroopers Answer: My new custom coffee table! fulltable by jameschillcott, on Flickr Who wants to come for beers and MW3? You can count me in for that! Really cool idea, and nice excecution. Are you worried about the sturdiness/durability at all. Just don't put down your drink too hard. I usually reserve myself to vintage figures only, but I quite like what you did here. Would look equally excellent on a wall too.
You have my vote! I've used printing press trays for displaying stuff on my walls for years, but it never once occurred to me to make furniture out of 'em. Full marks!
Very very nice!!! A buddy of mine got paid to throw a ton of those trays & the rest of the furniture out!! The last time I found one I think it cost me $20 bucks.
Oh ouch!...I have so very many plans for the world's leftover printing trays. Custom commissions coming shortly...just working out a few more work models for related projects. James
this is genius! i really like the mixed media going on here. better get some ewoks for those shorter compartments! or lego storm trooper minifigures! i've had an idea to make a coffee table similar to this to throw all of my header cards into it, maybe use one of those large scale shadow box frames. never got around to pulling that idea out. this bit of radness has motivated me. thanks!
