Hi all. I just found this flying around on my HD and I thought some of you might get a kick out of it. It's an unfinished illustration I made for a contest in 2008. If I remember correctly the contest's theme was something with movies and monster. Go figure. Here, a Japanese actor in his suit during a lunch break with tea and mochi. Of course, this is a bit of a stretch. Why would that guy need a rest even before he destroyed the city... Mochi by Daniel Goffin, on Flickr
well done! I like the detailed perspective on the city... no way would I have the patience or skills to do that!
I'm going to have nightmares about being back in perspective drawing class now. Very fun. I applaud your patience.
Hahaha. I guess it's obvious now that I actually enjoyed the perspective drawing class (having Otomo's panels in my mind).
The line work looks good but the mask/head? It looks like a pig nosed dinosaur. If that's what you were going for then it works but if it's supposed to be something else..well the mask looks way off.
Heh, a pig nosed dinosaur. I see what you mean. Actually, I wasn't going for a specific kaiju character (like Godzilla, for example) and it was more the absurdity of the scene itself that I felt was important.
This is awesome! I see what Bryce means bout the pig-nose... but the way the nose struck me was that of a traditional japanese dragon, rather than a dinosaur. I dig it and would love to see this as a print
