Spare parts Gachamecha would be awesome, but I pose, as I don't even have a regular-edition one. Sounds freakin' neat. I'd also like to see some more unpainted Globby action, and yes, erasers take the cake Joe. An unpainted Mightin/Tetran/Belragon set would be pretty rad too, now that I think of it. Is it sacrilege to ask in public: how does one get on the LB train at the end of the year? Do they go out through S7, or is there some other way of tracking them down? Feel free to PM if that's a no-no for open-thread, etc.
I forget, were LBs before or after the New Year? I think it was after right? @ jhateball: You won't have a problem finding the LBs. Just be prepared to save up for them though. Wonder if there's going to be different sizes.
2008 large Lucky Bag = $400.00 Some contained: Hedorah (clear painted) Cigaretteman (GID) Dokuroman Mini Bakobas (painted or unpainted Gameppa Smogun (painted or unpainted)
If I remember correctly...they were released on January 1st or shortly thereafter. A lucky bag wouldn't be a lucky bag without one little zag.
I hope they don't make different size LBs. Spare parts + Gachamecha would be so awesome. Has there ever been a full sized glow hedo? I don't really collect hedoras but a full sized GID one would be lovely.
I would just like to see a bit more variety in the individual bags this year. The bags last year were too similar to each other, and a standard sized figure to short for the price imo. I hope they throw in one off test shots here and there no matter what the sculpt is (preferably a Hedoran though ).
I would prefer that S7 buy a bunch of bags and break them up and sell the pieces individually like back in 2007.
I don't think, with the production costs only going higher and higher, that the LBs will be cheaper than $400...the variety might be better (hopefully) but they'll still be $400 or more... hope I'm wrong, but I seriously doubt it.
I wonder if they'll have something like the Invisible Kaiju Pack this year. I thought that was pretty cool with all the different companies.
I remember dividing up the cost into what came in the last Lucky Bag and it wasn't un-fair or off. I swear this discussion was had, how much was the last Lucky Bag?
Nah, I think $400. Let's do the break down. 1- Standard Hedoran ($100) 1- Mini Smogun ($50) 1- Mini Bakos ($50) 1- Crouching Zag ($45) 1- Fight Gampea ($60) 1- Dokuroman ($45) 1- Cigman ($45) $395 Add it all up, after importing them over that's about right. Maybe off on 1 or 2 of the guys, but that's about what they are retail. Just because things don't sell as well anymore or may not be so popular doesn't mean they're "not worth it." You just don't like it, that's all it means. I think what made the 08 LB unappealing was the lack of variety. It was the same figures in each bag, some with paint some without. BUT there were no SIZE variations, small, med, large. I think that NEEDS to come back. A cheap-o bag, a midgrade and a "big spender" bag. It makes it more fun.
I haven't been keeping extremely close tabs on the Gargamel after market but I don't recall seeing alot of the 2008 lucky bag toys being sold these days. Meaning they are popular among collectors. Yes, there was alot of selling in Jan/Feb but these days you rarely see that gold painted or unpainted Smogun around. Same with the painted Hedorah. Same with the others. So certain collectors have held onto them unlike say RxH minis.
That's true, my comment was more meant as "despite what street value is, those are what retail values were at the time, so they're more than fair." I figured there might be the argument of "Oh well sure it retails at X but isn't WORTH it and so the Lucky Bags should be 8 standard figures for $400" or some crazy logic someone might pop out like that. Overall, $400 was very worth the price of the 2008 Lucky Bag. Boo Hoo for you if you weren't into what was in it. And a word on standard Zags: Every Lucky Bag UNTIL 2008 had them, so whatever. There was so much crying after these hit with no standard Zags, I don't mind the next NOT having one either. I love the big guy, but there's one every SDCC (seems almost tradition now) and 1-3 released every year, so there ya go. Bring me a Standard Bakos! CLEAR! WITH MIXED PARTS! OR one of the awesome Ghosts N' Goblins guys http://www.kaiju-taro.com/index.php?ac= ... =&type=grp
Clear Lime Green Killer or Raspberry Solid Killer (Unpainted) or Clear Grape Killer Clear Mini Dragamel (Unpainted) Black Solid Ojo (Unpainted) or Silver Ojo (Unpainted) Grape Clear Standing Hedoran (Handpaint or Unpainted)
Maybe I'm wrong, but I think you might be off on some of those retail prices. Aren't standard figures $60 and minis $40, and Dokuroman/Cigman $30? I know I've seen the last two priced at $40 and $30, and standard Zags were $60.
For the standard I'm going by what I see on S7. They're, US retail, $90-$110. Maybe on SALE they drop, but all of them, not on sale, are those prices and usually seems to be. Dokuroman are also $40, well one is $30 but I think it's a sale again. Minis have a weird range from $35-$50 sometimes it seems. What standard Zags were $60 off the bat in the last year? The clear GID yellow was $100 originally. The SDCC one is a different story because it was sold direct by Gargamel. I know my calculations/observations aren't dead on, and I may have hiked the price $5 here or there, but only REALLY $10 at most on 1 or 2 things, and in the end it's not that much more. I'll hazard to say maybe $375 vs. $400 but still, for the price it's not TOTALLY off. That's the only point I was trying to make. I just remember when they hit people being shocked at the price, when in reality it wasn't a total rip-off. I think we all just expected more variety and some more popular characters, but the price was fair at most. I KNOW! Mixed parts Bemon is so cool, and I think the effect on Gargamel figures would be even better honestly. Plus if they wanted to go SUPER NUTS mix up parts that fit on the joints that don't belong (Hedoran head on a Smogun lower half, weird bio-freaks like that, I think there's an example in a Kaizine somewhere.)
Actually, I thought that the timing of the Inivisible Kaiju Pack's release was horrible......right alongside the Gargamel Lucky Bag release. It was extreme wallet drain. Two releases that were pretty expensive, and did not satisfy.
