Of course. I probably won't buy the first or second generation, but I'm really curious as to what it does to the cell phone market. The commercials look great. Steve Jobs is in the prime of his game. It's getting so much hype and publicity and it hasn't even launched. Stock is going nuts too.
it's funny to see the "techies" freak out. a friend a work is ready to sell his soul for one and i am impressed by the tv spots but don't even own a regular cell. the sad thing is it will be buggy and within a year a new one will be out that is smaller, lighter and have a hard drive 10x bigger. it happened with the ipod but i guess most of society must consume immediately. oh well...enjoy to those who buy...BOOM!
I still don't own a cell phone, my toys take all my money. I just make sure a friend is around who has one, and tell anyone who might contact me I'm with them, and surely it's ok to call them to reach me
I can beat that one. I don't own a phone. People can reach me at work or email me outside of work. If I have to call in sick, I walk a block down the street to a payphone.
I have 3 phones. One at home, one at the workspace and a mobile. its great. I can order pizza wherever I am. My mobile is real good with the whole checking my email on the road thing as well.
I'm all in for a 60Gb plus capacity video Ipod with the touchscreen features but the Iphone in it's current state seems like too much money for watered down version of things I already have. It's definitely got sex appeal and I've spent a lot of money on more <ahem> frivolous things....
nah, sorry jobs , it's already using outdated technology........apparently they are not using 3G untl the 2nd or 3rd gen........why use GSM when nearly everyone has left it behind, it will deffo hinder sales over here.............
Iphone will be a fashion accessory just like the Ipod but I certainly wouldn't be buying the first phone off the production line from a company that doesn't make phones traditionally. I'll be waiting and until then continue to use my awesome sony ericsson
Jeebus, people are already lining up for this thing in NYC. Never understood buying first gen technology or game boxes. ATT plan gives it unlimited Internet but like Chris says, at dialup or worse speeds.
I could have one for free if I wanted, and I'm sure I'd love it if I went for it, but ... just not feeling the need. If my Apple pals choose to give me one, naturally I'll accept and use it, but I'm not going to ask for one. I agree that it would be prudent to wait for future generations, if cost or mistrust of first gen products are issues. For some people the iPod may be a fashion accessory, but for my use, it's exactly what it's supposed to be, and by far the best portable digital player there is. I also use it to watch downloaded video content on my television, which works beautifully. I couldn't care less about the fashionable aspect.
a lot of hype me-thinks 'course I'm a Nokia fanboy... (N95 owner here..) if it had a slightly higher mp camera & gps I'd probably consider it but it doesn't....
Apple makes a superior product and the iPhone will be no different. Sure they first few will most likely have some problems, but I don't feel Apple would have released the phone if they new it would suck. As far as the price goes you have plenty of consumers out there that don't care what the price tag looks like as long as they are the first person in their click to have one. The sells will be phenomenal.
we're definitely an apple household (1 macbook pro, 1 macbook, 1ibook, 1 imac, and 4 ipods i think at last count) and i'm not going to get one based on my cell provider. i've got verizon and i'm happy with them. my boyfriend on the other hand...he's getting one i'm pretty sure. we all know the first gen stuff isn't a good idea, the speed is slow, but i think some folks here aren't commenting on the fact that it's also a video ipod as well (albeit an 8GB one) which i think is fairly useful. it's ok though. he gets his iphone and i get a new SLR it all works out right? hehe
who here thinks that the network will crash or be super slow all weekend when al the tech geeks try to go onl;ine with it? by network...i mean the phone network...
