I'll be in LA next Saturday, taking my girlfriend there for her birthday as neither of us have been to hell...i mean LA. Probably stopping at Little Next Door french cafe, maybe Hollywood Forever cemetary. Beyond that I know next to nothing about LA, what might be some suggestions for places to check out? I heard little Tokyo is cool? Suggest away
LA is an amazing town, full of history and filled with interesting and creative people - I get a bit sick of the cliche LA "humor". If it's so awful, stay home, we could use the extra parking space.
There's a lot of good restaurants....Little Tokyo is alright...you can probably see the whole thing in a couple hours. If you go there, you can go to Phillipe's for french dip sandwhiches. There's also Olvera St. nearby. Hollywood is pretty cool if you've never been there. There's beaches and hiking. Museums as well. Nothing to do downtown unless you want to go shopping for clothes or jewelry. There's Universal studios and Magic Mountain. Lots of clubs if you're into that. The thing with LA is that everything is spread out so you'll want to have a car. If you need some restaurant suggestions...just let us know what you're into.
Go say "hi" to Gino and Sean (Mostre Hero) over at TAG (Toy Art Gallery). FYI current show is "Western". You might need to call first? http://www.toyartgallery.com/blog/
Thanks Bob and Lee. Ill definitely try to stop by TAG. We definitely aren't interested in shopping or clubs, and definitely driving so we can see stuff in Hollywood as well. As for food, one of her favorites is French. But again dont want to do anything fancy pants really. Little Next Door Cafe sounded pretty on point. She doesn't eat meat except for fish. Im sure it is Coop, which is why we want to go. We like interesting and creative.
Anime Jungle is a must if you're in Little Tokyo. A bit tricky to find but definitely worth the visit. http://toybotstudios.blogspot.com/2008/ ... sited.html
Theres a bunch of threads on this here Forum about what to do in LA also - check 'em out for other fun frolics possible in this glorious town... I'd go into my usual rec's, BUT I dont want to sound like a broken record....
They have two stores - one is a cosplay/goth Lolita joint, which probably wouldn't be too interesting unless you're a chubby tween from Orange County.
