im lucky enough to have 10 of the mini figures and the Jumbo Capsule Robo G but no nodders yet. I passed on the Robo G 12 years ago and had kicked myself ever since. Once S7 came out i kicked myself even harder thinking id never fine one then....NEVER say Never!!! After my wedding they will be near the top of my to find list. The whole series is just too cool. That set of 4 was a great score considering the condition and the accessories, nice going!!!

Mine are missing a lot of parts. I only have one missile launching tube. So, I went down to Canal Plastics and they had some good acrylic tube that was the right outer diamater. But the inner is wrong for the missiles. I picked it up anyway, as I can't bear to see these poor guys armless...

After Sacrificing the Marusan Reissue head and torso of Earth, I was able to carve and hair-dryer my way into a fairly good looking repro. And the acrylic tubes will be the radness when I find the right pieces. I've already done up the CAD for the lever, stops and inserts.

It's obvious my boots and gloves are BS. But it will do for now. Can't have the boys all cold and nekkid.

Sure! Just send me a vintage Astro Myu body and a marusan reissue!
I really didn't do much but cut up a Masrusan head and torso and paint some modified boots and gloves from various action figures.

Without the body of the vintage pieces, and an almost complete all original item in the pair it wouldn't be as impressive.

Organic Addict def had the score of the year and that one guy w the pile of Myu stuff I've been messaging for 2 years, on and off w no luck.

There is nothing about the nodders from AM5 that get old....

    Agreed.

So I've been working hard to accommodate a fellow board members request to get me off my original mars man weapon and glove.
I was pretty reluctant... but then I discovered some flexible resin that is as soft as sofubi vinyl when slush cast.

I present: Astro Myu Mars man weapon and glove repro process test 1.

I'm going for boots later this week and of course - any members who need parts, help me cover costs and I'll try to get YOU a decent stand in.

Diceone, Are those molds one piece? If so, that resin must be very flexible.

Here're my attempts at casting spare parts.

Good work on the casts. The weapon looks great. Is the glove too filled in for the hand to fit?
    Are you using hard resin?

My molds are one piece - but I ended up being a wimp and slicing them for easier demold.
My material is flexible like crazy.

However this silicone is also SUPER flexible.
    400% stretchable.

So you can manhandle it. After I saw some tutorials on silicone molds being stretched crazy to get slush mold pieces out, I was sold.
As long as you don't pressurize your silicon it's super flexible.

I'm getting a slower setting resin for mine so hopefully I can pour some smaller amounts and get thinner walls consistently.
Can't wait to give a boot a try.

Yeah, I'm using a hard poly-urathane resin. The glove didn't fill in too much, it's just there is zero give in the resin. The weapon is a better fit than the real deal!

I love nodders, but the thought of buying pieces here and there has scared me away from buying. Plus since YJA is the only source, it's daunting to think of dropping 20% plush shipping on each part I buy. If there were good solid repro parts to at least hold them together while waiting for the next glove, boot etc... to show. it would be so much more enticing.

@mondocoyote - amazing capsule robo mini.
Take a drill to that resin!
Looks like I could've gotten you to make a cast for me. I didn't even think about that.

You could've sent me back a positive and I could've made a mold from that.

@slipstar - I think it's cool to help some people out. I also think everyone should be diligent about trying to find originals.
The stuff is out there, and yes it's gotten a lot of hype. But it's not any worse than a $300 or $400 Bullmark gem.

I don't think it'd hurt if people were a little more forthcoming with sharing and sale of astro myu pieces.
If I ever get extras I will sell or trade if it can make another collector happy.
