It's not really important, but I thought it would be interesting to see who were the first 25 to register on the board. Here they are in order of registration from Oct 16, to October 20, 2005: ramos subterranean scud80 brooks55 geo audiodifficulties julianmi jltohru moriachi Kovalsky jhottrod Lttr Prssd Laffin Lapin arevalo straightoutta..LOKASH r-terminator vinylglowaddict gabbagabba wizeguy hyperparasite Pogue uub cesar brianflynn MrStone...
I'm still a newbie so I dont know if my say matters much. I do notice the rudeness though of some posters. There's a big difference in unnecessarily saying you dont like something then unnecessarily going on about how bad an artist and his productions are. Ya, if you dont like it, ignore it. Let others form thier own opinions. Do you want everyone to like exactly what you like? Flaming just reminds me of Donald Rumsfled. Loudmouthed, know-it-alls who talk down to everyone and then probably pay some bondage woman to shit on them later. But I think the only true remedy is for the one being flamed to just ignore it. The world overflows in aholes and sometimes the only remedy is to hold your nose closed.
Interestingly enough Frank and I started off with a long argument about KR until Ramos stepped in and told us to stfu. I'm not blacklisted, he didn't tell me to "suck it". It seems to me someone has to get fairly nasty and personal to get on his shit list unless he forget to blacklist me or something.

Do the "Still Here"'s get a nice 25th first members patch, jacket, or anything super dooper cool??? I feel cool, I registered before Brian and Glenn!!! What is the UK version???
Roger, I'm not talking about marginalizing people or drawing lines or saying who belongs or who doesn't. That's not my place or role. All that I have done, in another post, was to float the idea that since Frank is so active with sales, that he get his own forum as he was flooding the RxH forum with multiple sales threads. Just a suggestion to bring some order. If I'm offbase cause Frank's Pickles are considered RxH and not customs, fine. Whatever. By noise, I mean posts in the wrong forums, posts that have no zero content (not talking innocent newbie posts), the ongoing flame wars, the homophobic stuff, pictures of Fatcaps, people setting up shop with less than 10 posts, etc etc. Maybe noise is inevitable with size. VI has a different feel than SB than S7FC than...
all this talk about noise is kinda ironic because the only time I feel like it's noisy is when the same people I FART A LOT and moan at every opportunity.
Doesn't this registration list do exactly what Roger was talking about? Draw lines and rank people? Along with the almighty post counts that some people seem so concerned about? I would also add that of the original 25, a number of them have significantly dropped their number of active posts, and seeming lurk.
I appreciate you clarifying your stance, but when you use words like "purity" and "noise" and references to this place "devolving," it sure sounds like it.
Isaac held a firm line on things. No porn, no [expletive deleted]. So when that starts to creep in at times, I get the sense that the board is devolving. I don't see customs as bringing vitality or whatever to the scene unlike others. To me, this is noise: http://www.skullbrain.org/bb/viewtopic.php?t=15136 And for absolute clarity, it has nothing to do with the poster or where he lives or any other nonsense. It's just another thread but I have to learn to be more tolerant about and just wade through. I also think that there are six stages to board life. Let me dig that one up.
ok, i never attacked frank personally. i don't hate everything he does, i think the usagi gon is a pretty cool little sculpt. i think most of his paints jobs are more suitable for big production western crap where people dont seem to care about quality, only whose name is on the piece. and i don't think i need to 'ignore' anything. all of frank's post are full of people saying how much they love everything he touches. a few posts expressing a different opinion shouldn't hurt. and if frank asks 'what do you want for 08?', i'll let him know.
This is the request that Frank is making: BUT, if you are one of those people, please do NOT even bother to send me a pm over some item I am selling or trading or whatever. and just so it's not out of context...here is the start of it all. It's like everyone just read the first sentence and disregarded the rest of it. Kinda like an ball going over everyone's head.
For me, Frank's real x head figures are OFFICIAL because they have header cards and are officially endorsed and approved by the toy line's creator. Customs are not... And, for the record, the only reason I am 55th in line is that I was still dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina...living Road Warrior style is not really very much fun.
seems like a pretty reasonable request, not sure why those picking him and his work apart would want to buy anything anyway, kinda weird eh would you invite someone into your soup kitchen if they were constantly publically bitching about your soup?
OMG im only #32 TeH SUCK Fresh Meat....! Flynn wants typing? Ok I'll type may ass off: 1. I do not care what people post. The more posts the better. People should post negative shit about me if they want, thats great...just don't get all huffy when I slam back. I mean, seriousy, I have this scenario: Douche X posts ONLY to give me shit in my threads...day after day..( which is fine)..then pm's on the side ' hey it's all fun..uh..can I get a blank? I mean, what the hell kind of hypocrisy is that? PLEASE..post whatever you want, but if your going to make a big deal out of somehow ' representing' the 'other side' or the OG...do not be surprised when I don't want to do you any favors. 2. 'The OG'....well, since no one I have ever heard of was like, collecting SB in the womb...this is a silly and false idea. I mean, if you want fucking OG..Me and Chad are 2 people I know where collecting J vinyl almost 25 years ago. I am sure some the Vintage dudes much longer than that. So take your 'Oh IM rad because i bought SB in 2005' and stick it up your Bakobasu. You know, having some toys does not make you better than other people. 3. 'KR" Kiddies: again, what are you such a loser that your ging to define someone's self-worth by what extraneous crap they collect? What the hell does that say about you? EVERYONE is a KR Kiddie. get over it. 4. Who'e opinion really matters? -FLYNN _ THE ADMINS -JAPAN TOY CO OWNERS end of story. the rest of us have no fucking say . AT ALL. suck it up. 5. GEo/Taro's phot threads. While I have had my differences with him, I think his photos rock and his toy are awesome. MORE PLEASE. I want to see as many good pix of toys as possible. Organized by manufacturer if possible. 6. Qualty of my shit: hey its a learning curve. I try every day to improve the skillz and get the proper paint and equipment. I feel the last 2 releases stand up 100% to J painted stuff. My standing offer always has been and always will be: INSTANT REFUND IF YOUR NOT HAPPY WITH YOUR PURCHASE. 7.Profiteering: I WISH...if I factor in the equipment purchse, paint costs, shipping and time spent..OMG im making about 5 bucks an hour profit. Also, NO ONE needs to buy it. No one is being forced. Hate the fact I have a deal with RxH or RM or whoever/ TOO BAD. 8. Posts: I will post whatever thehell I want whenever I want and will only bow to the wishes of ADMIN, MOD or FLYNN. Don't like it? dont read it. 9. CONSTANT SLAMMING: and not just on me. BE A MAN. Personally. i am NOT into the Pirate stuff...yet I don't post in those threads and go 'meh...aint feeling it...pushead sucks...Hidi's a sellout etc etc etc.'. I RESPECT the fact that other people LOVE the pirates and just dont feel the need to pis on their birthday cake. Hitler toys: THE NAZIS OWE ME MONEY. consider reparations. oh by the way here is the list of people that should never ask me a favor or pm me due to their constant bullshit:they should however keep posting hate as much as possible. Havingmysay Liquidsky Audiodifficulties Alifeintoys have I left anything out?
i think we still hold a pretty firm line on porn and d.unnys. some things have certainly changed since isaac is not here, but these things will never be allowed. as for other western stuff, it has its own section. in general, i think it would be a good thing if everyone took a deep breath and just chilled out a little bit. im all for the posts that disagree, express opinions popular or not, etc. there a tons of toys i think are whack, tons i love, and its great that we can have conversations and debate about it. i just cant stand the posts that are all agressive, mean, or say something like 'youre a stupid butt-munch and i hate your haircut' instead of 'i think the paint quality of this piece is sloppy' or 'the reason i dont like it is.....'. it would be rad if we could leave the egos and posturing and what not out on the playground, and bring back some of the excitement and vitality of the community through conversation, instead of just pooping in our hands and throwing it at each other.
Skullbrain, much like the S7 magazines of the past, can be a great resource for making informed decisions on building, maintaining, and enjoying a toy collection. I look forward to, equally, the opinions of those for and against a particular toy. Kaiju appreciation is definitely an acquired trait, and I value the posts pointing out specific nuances and flaws in the various releases. And while a healthy bit of skepticism brought on by an intelligent and otherwise thoughtful board member can be be productive, we have to be mindful of the other intelligent and thoughtful members who may be very sensitive to our comments. In any competitive debate or arena, one always is faced with the choice of having to either be courteous or hostile. If this community is expected to continue to be fruitful, we should concentrate on treating one another like we are who we are capable of becoming. For instance, Frank is in essence a satirist. One needs to look no further than Michael Moore to see the polar divide evident between fans and detractors of just such an artist. However, whether you happen to be "for or against" his artwork slash toys, you can certainly appreciate the immensity of Franks body of work and his ability to reinvent himself as a toy artist, not terribly unlike Tony Hawks recent success as a video game designer. Success like this never happens by accident. And while he can sometimes display a prickly disposition, more often than not he exhibits an extreme affection for the community. With his success at creating a brand out of his own name, one can only imagine the kind of random and infuriating pms or emails he receives by making himself available to the community like he does. Incidentally, Frank also happens to be a dead ringer for my former business partner who was the laziest sob on the planet, so needless to say I was a bit biased before I had the chance to visit the Kozik booth at sdcc. However, within a few seconds of meeting Frank, I instantly knew he was a worker, straight up. And I fancy myself as having a keen sense of character. Inherently, we are all capable of great things so lets start treating each other as such. Sure we all will fuck up from time to time. In fact, the most successful people will fuck up the most. But certainly never for lack of trying!
