how do I post photos so they are visible on the thread?

I'm sorry for asking but I can't figure out how to post pictures properly so they are visible. thanks in advance

In order for the image to appear, you have to say BLOODY MARY three times while looking into a mirror.

When you are in the Post Editor after hitting the "Post Reply" button there are these controls above the Text Box. (Sometimes they are next to the Text Box when using a mobile device.)



Clicking the "Img" button will insert code that looks similar to this: [img.] [/img]

Paste an image's address (your image must be uploaded somewhere online, like Flickr or Photobucket) between those codes so that it looks like this:

[img.]http://photo.c0m/fake[/img] Voila! You're done.

Otherwise you could use the "Imgwidth=" button to control how large the initial display size is. Same technique, but with this one you enter a specific size of your choice, in pixels, after the equal sign.

Example:
[img.width=500]http://photo.c0m/fake[/imgwidth]

Could someone kindly tell me how I can add photos into my posts? Is it because I am now using the mobile site of which I don't know how to use properly?

Even on the mobile site, you should see a little icon above the text box to the right of the smiley face. It's supposed to be a mountain and moon in a picture frame (I think). You click on this and a box opens for you to paste in the URL for the picture, it will then insert the pic into the post.

It's probably me just being stupid but I cannot get any of the above to work from my iPhone.

Either using Flickr or IG (apps rather than full sites as on my phone) whenever I add in a URL it comes up with either a small empty box or more often a box with IMG in it (as below)

In both cases I go to the share option in the relevant app and select copy URL and am then pasting this directly in.

Any ideas?

 

@Bob when you are on your phone, you have to get out of the app, force it to push to the desktop version, that is the only way - I do not use safari as my main browser on my iphone, but instead chrome. Chrome allows you to open desktop versions of most sites, but it will default to the mobile version first. Hope that helps!

i honestly just dont know how to navigate the flickr app lol at least when it comes to copy&paste link stuff

 

HAHA Just follow the steps I gave Bob and you'll be fine! It took me a moment too when I was trying to figure it out, but it's because the app or mobile site doesn't really support the real copy and paste. When I get a moment I can post steps

 

yeah flickr is a real pain to use on mobile, it's easy to upload with the app but copying a link is a total pain. I usually just have to do a phone/laptop combo to take a photo and then get the link copied.
but another option is to make a throwaway instagram account.

 

tinyurl might be the best way for now... photobucket just ruined millions of webpage archives lol

free hosting... but its a quick host, meaning you wont have a profile where they are saved... if you just want to upload to post without a database connected to you, its a good way of doing it.

 

@eckotyper - Did you perhaps mean tinypic.com? Tinyurl is just a URL shortening service.

 

Does anyone have that problem where you try to link an instagram pic but for some reason it posts it twice in the message box? Double Images.

 

@decypher Yes. Couldn't figure out how to get it to only 1 without breaking the link.

I won't direct post from IG for this very reason & the process to from Flickr is cumbersome, which has translated to less pics shared recently :/

 

I hate mysterious glitches that make me feel technologically inept. As for instagram, people are thirst. I'll post a baragon and get 10 new friends.

My IG photos post perfectly fine.. Ive never been able to post from flickr, it just shows my photos as a blue question mark..
