Just some stuff that I did recently all are roughly 9"x6" on watercolor paper. Dempagon has some metallic ink but I'm really enjoying the techniques I used with the Otoroshi and Globby. Oh yeah...I painted a toy too. I think this will go in the S7 show on 29/01
The Dempa painting has a nice silvery wash to match the toy. You can have the painting...you just have to buy the toy I've been trying a different technique with the last couple of drawings I did (the Otoroshi and the Globby to be exact). I kinda like it. It's a mix of 3-4 different mediums and I think it will work much better with a smoother paper rather than the textured watercolor paper that I usually use. I really like the way "Globby Wants Taiyaki" came out. I guess experimenting at 3am turned out to be a good thing after all.
Thats like how they sell mix cds- the cd is free but you have to pay for the case lol And yeah that sounds about right, 3 AM is about the butter zone for creative ideas. When I was out of work that was the best time for me. Boy do I miss that !
Great stuff Bert! I love your details and colors, and, well, everything! I especially really like your mini Hedos. I do like the sculpt, but never felt that "need" or "want" to buy it... But seeing your custom versions of the Hedos makes me really want to get one! I hope to be able to get one of your customs at some point. Just need to get a steady cash flow first :p lol...
Seriously awesome, Bert. Great colors balanced over the whole figure. The silver bits work really well to punch up the areas you colored. Nicely done.
I like this dempa a lot bert, especially the arms/legs.. although I would have sprayed tighter on the protuberance on the head. Bako looks good, but I think you need to photograph it in a different way, because the lighting/color balance is too close the colors you used and it looks a little washed out as a result. But i looks like a classic gargamel spray. I like everything about this Argus but the blue eyes. I especially like the gradation on the hands and feet, but I would have gone with a milky white or pink eyes/finger eyes. This guy is wicked. I like the red skull face, and the use of reds/oranges/yellows instead of the more watery blues and greens is nice... I don't think I would have tried that. Adult RxH Chaos is a little busy for my tastes (like on the bulbous prt of his head and shoulder) but thats a thing with RxH that I've never been into. I would tighten up the gold on the knees to match with the belt buckle. Love the silver though. My only other thought is it needs a bigger bandana. Phil In my efforts to add more constructive criticism in my responses to customs.
I thought about that at first but the more I looked at it, the more I thought that it was part of the head and not breaking out of the head...like the way the guts are coming out of the body. The sculpt at that point is a bit abrupt but there are no cracks around the area, like the body. So the only way I could make more of a connection between the 2 is by over-spray. I should have made the eyes a different color. They're both light or sky blue and they don't stand out at all. This was a sort of nature themed piece...hence the browns and greens. I thought it worked well to show the dempa becoming overcome by nature and coming to life versus the electronics and hardware. There's still a lot of disjoint but it's more the sculpt for me and it's the reason why I kinda like the dempa but not really...but now I'm talking more about the toy so I'll stop there. ------------------------- I'm no photographer ------------------------- Pressed for time. I wanted a lighter shade of blue for both the hands and the stalks. For me it was either blue or green to tie in with the body and make the connection between the stalks and fingertips. ------------------------- The story with all the Odorons except for 2 (one for S7FL show and other was commissioned)...I have one sitting by my painting area and if there's some paint left in my airbrush, I spray it on the Odoron, depending on how much is left. So, while the pattern is somewhat planned, the colors are not. ------------------------- This guy is staying with me so the tightness didn't matter to me but yeah, if it was for someone else, I would have gone much tighter. Chaos in general is very busy for me and I have a tough time painting them. As for the bandana turned choker...it's a left over piece of cloth and again, I would have used a bigger piece if it wasn't staying in my collection. At least my airbrush is working again . ------------------------- Thanks for looking everyone.
Excellent work on the Bako bert. Great colour-fade on the purple to bronze. I can't even begin to imagine what kind of involved work that is, but I do love me some contrasting guts!
