Hey all, I happen to be headed to Japan with my incredibly indulgent female companion from Feb 17-March 7th. We'll be doing a week snowboarding up north and then in a week in Tokyo and Kyoto, with a full 3-4 days devoted to my Great Toy Hunt 2011! Basically I'm going to memorize Tokyo Underground 2 and try to visit as many key shops and artists as possible. Why is this of interest to you? Well, simple. I've decided to reap some good toy karma by offering myself up as a mule for as many of you as it takes to fill up a small backpack worth of stuff. Here are the rules: 1) 1st come, 1st served 2) Max 2 items/person. 3) Items can be toys, a favourite snack, whatever, but try to keep it on the small side to leave room for others to get in on this. 4) Throw a photo, description/background, where I might find it and anything I need to know about condition preferences, etc 5) Decide what you want to pay for it and send it to my Paypal account before I leave (jameschillcott@gmail.com)....if I find your item, you pay shipping to get it to you from Ohio. If I don't I just send back your money, no funny business. (I'm assuming we'll use "gift" mode on Paypal to facilitate.) 6) When I get back I'll be in Toronto, travelling to the US (to see family and ship) within the month, so that's the delivery timeline. And that's it....so what do you want? [Wasn't sure where to post this, so if the mods feel it belongs elsewhere, feel free to move and my apologies!] James/FaustX
I don't need anything from Tokyo right now but just wanted to say thanks anyway, it's a great idea and most of all good luck with your hunt! Enjoy Japan!!
me and MISHKA crew will be there March 1st to the 4th. Setting up a new window display at their store in Harijuku and partying down for the 1 year anniversary.
Perhaps you can make use of the map of Tokyo toy shops created by Kaiju Korner's Andy here. Have fun!
Nice one!....will definitely try to drop by to check that out! p.s. Nice map work Andy...I have one of my own I've been building will steal all my missing parts and share back later to anyone who needs.
There is no trying JUST DOING, did you read what he said?! New window display by Lamour Supreme and 1 year anniversary party!
Can you bring me a samurai sword or ninja grappling hook? My neighbors are starting to annoy me. Can you bring me a Samurai helmet? You can wear it on your head so it won't take up any room in the backpack! Can you bring me a Japanese McDonald's hamburger so I can taste a real beef meat burger again? Sorry couldn't resist. Been working on these for days...
You are vacationing in Japan with an 'incredibly indulgent female companion' and offering to buy random geeks shit they don't need . . . what am I missing here!
if there were any marbled skull wings still at the astro zombie shop, id ask you to grab me one. alas..no pushead to be had atm in japan. this was super cool of you to do this for the brains. respect!!!
You know, you can have a real beef meat burger pretty easily here in the states. You should try other options besides McDonalds.
Nah, chicks love fat, ugly, opinionated, Northern bastards over here . . . I have to fight 'em off with a big stick!
Hey guys, Just a reminder that if you want something, you need to: a) Figure out what you want to spend on it b) Claim your place in line (in thread, and by PM if you like) c) Send me the money if you are serious to the paypal account listed in the first post Once I'm there I'm simply going to carry a list of the stuff and pics around on my iphone from people who paid and check off what I find, not necessarily in order. If I find it, I'll let you know and bill you honest shipping. If I don't I send your cash back. If you choose not to send me money its your call, but you won't get your stuff, and I'm as reliable as it gets in terms of fair dealing and communications. Only 3-4 hands up solidly so far, so fire away. Oh, and for the curious here is the "incredibly indulgent female companion"... Clearly we are talking about a girl with a sense of fun and adventure no? J
Goto Japan before Feb. 6th and head over to Wonder Fest, then we'll talk! Seriously though, this is a super nice thing you are doing for us SBers. Hope you have a fun and safe trip.
