Time to book a flight I guess
A flight from Queens to Brooklyn?
Nah. It’s digital only via NTWRK app.
I swear I'll be in SF by then.
Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard
Live in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft
Virtual Five Points this weekend on the NTWRK app! Lineup below.
Changed the name of this thread. Ain't saying anything else until Clutter makes an official public announcement. Stay tuned!
Hope that announcement comes soon. Grr.
Announced, website banner change:
The email that was sent to vendors say that the new unnamed venue is still going to be in Brooklyn.
I wish I had anything good to say.
Them refusing refunds to people who gave them hundreds of dollars years ago for VIP still leaves a shit taste in my mouth. As soon as shit went down I requested the refund (in March of 2020) and it went through, for $284 (VIP x2). Later on they started refusing to refund people, telling them they could just use their ticket in any future year.
I don't see how FPF is going to market to the sofubi collectors with a date in ~60 days. Maybe western vinyl? When I checked their page the other day, they were still happy to sell VIP tickets for $142 each. I think that it's safe to assume Japanese vendors aren't coming at this point.
There is no vendor list. Their news on the website has no update since October. Their Instagram page has no posts since the online NTWRK sale. There is no proper promotion or advertising. Hell at least DCon was hyping their show up for months leading up to the show last year.
Feels like FPF will return with a whimper at best. I'm basically in NYC and I don't even know if I'll be going. Certainly not at this rate. While it only would take one big artist to change my mind, I am losing faith rapidly. I'd rather stick to small in person shows and online sales/lotteries at this rate.
Wish MPH could have a good sofubi show to visit in Brooklyn. I want to visit the new shop.
I need to go there myself.
Despite the date change, Eiji Kaminaga from Marusan will still have a table, and he's bringing Asaka Kubo with him. He is also bringing many toys of varying sizes, shapes, and colors.
When Marusan came out for Kaijucon(?) 3 or 4 years ago. They brought Ultra series toys, but no Toho as they don't have the US license. They brought so much awesome stuff, from 450 down to gacha. Including 1 or 2 exclusives.
Same thing this time. No Toho characters.
I’m hoping to head out there… I have to figure some logistical shit out but, hopefully I can see the east coast friends.
I’m putting on a show at MPH in August - should be fun
One of the Marusan reveals, more to come:
I have a VIP ticket from 2020 and I unfortunately can't make it. I've tried getting refunded a couple of times but haven't heard back from anyone.
Anyone want it? Happy to pass it over in exchange for helping me mule some sunguts/marusan.
Vendor list is available: https://www.fivepointsfest.com/vendors-2022/
I feel like there is a lot of vendors that folks on this board might be interested in, such as:
Toy Art Gallery
Cherry Moth Cake
Bombastic Plastic (Neil Ewing)
Many more! Resin, pins, designer toys, pop culture, etc.
I know Clutter has had some trouble over the past few years and could have handled some things better, but they're a small crew and dealing with events has been especially difficult during this time. We need events like this for the community, so I hope everyone can practice some forgiveness and give them another chance. I think it's shaping up to be a really great event!
I'll have a booth in artist's alley slinging my wares. I'll have some Y'ARRRUMA runs, sofubi collabs and customs, some resin bootleg grody monsters, and a few prototypes too. I hope to see some of y'all there!
