The only booth pic I took was the Super7 stuff. I was too excited and kept forgetting. But this year's soft vinyl releases were quite nice. Miss the old days when it was more than once or twice a year.
Not sure if you heard the podcast Brian was on earlier this year(?) but they've just had a rough time lately getting sofubi made in Japan. Glad they're able to get more out lately. Was really dry for a bit. Grabbed a pumpkin boy at NYCC this year. So great in hand. The Mishka one looks great in the photo, bet it's awesome in hand.
bummed I couldn't make it this year. Vegas seems fun to me. As Manny said, there's just nothing to walk to in Anaheim.
This trip was bittersweet knowing it's probably my last, but what a fun time. Also, big thanks to @3wing for letting me adopt this Tortoise King I never knew I needed and just for being so dang nice.
Awesome! Interesting it sounds less lucrative than last year. Wonder if that's due to people needing to spend less, or just lower attendance in general? BOTH? It does feel like everyone has recently been hit savagely hard financially. Seemed to notice a lot of things going up for sale all over the place. Only other thing I could think of is how sickness effected attendees. Kinda seems like a LOT of people started getting sick in Novemeber, and its just always floating around. I'm shocked how few masks returned to events once fall started. Not just for COVID concerns, but just cold/flu season in general! Like, why is masking so hard for people??? I try to do it anytime i'm in an inclosed area with lots of people. But, the videos I saw from DCON was almost devoid of any masks.
THOSE TAR PIT DINOS!!! THOSE PACHI RACERS! (btw, what is the center one? Sort of a 4-eyed Garamon?) THAT ANKY! ♥︎~WOELLY~ ♥︎ Very jealous.
THANK YOU! I actually have one, but it's glow-in-dark and driving like a backhoe type thing LOL. I was gonna use the driver in something else, but struggled to make out all the details in that milky glow vinyl.
It was good to see people! I appreciate everyone who came out. This one seemed to be strong with great work. The landscape is changing a bit but, collectively I think we made the best of it. Here’s to making the best of it in a new place and also seeing what the west coast shows have up their sleeve. Cheers to everyone who came out and supported!
I was super excited to see the Scare Glow prototype at the Mondo booth. I was allowed to touch it and it is very sturdy. When they first announced the concept at SDCC, I was a bit worried that it would not feel like the original 80s figure, but to my surprise, it is perfect.
DCON. Another awesome one in the books. I had a blast connecting with old friends, and making some new ones. Grabbing AND touching a few amazaballs toys. Attendance seemed a little bit down, but sales were still very good. Came home with close to nothing for the webshoppe which is an achievement for me. Played a lot of dice, and ate some yummy food. Thanks so much to everyone that stopped by Rampage and my booth.
Some new Taiwan artists brought cool stuff to Dcon this year. I liked these three oni with debirooman inspired paint jobs, but could not pull the trigger. The weapons are metal and you can pull the weapon out of the left arm and put it in the right hand. In some way, they gave me a similar feel of when I saw the original Retroband MEATS for the first time. I loved the color on this wrestler but the figure was not for sale and only for display. But I like it so much that I bought one of the Turtle Monster posters.
Bummed I didn't know about the Shirahama dino set to ask a friend to grab one for me. Anyone know if he sold out of them?
There were just a few left sunday morning. Maybe they will go up in the creature bazaar webshoppe. We joked about how bad Shirahama was about getting out the word that these were even at the con. There were also two towers that I grabbed, and some Kumons too. Was such a treat to just see them all sitting there out in the wild.
Thanks for the intel! Will keep an eye out if/when CB does DCon leftovers. It's such a great looking set. Have the T-Rex in goji blue and sometimes I just stare at it.
I’ll keep it as simple as I can. This DCon was what I needed it to be personally, but also what I think it should’ve been for everyone that attended. Skullbrain sees the haul first.
All the headlock toys are so big already, that it makes Draculazer's mascot look NOT gigantic. Fantastic as always to see you Robert.
Excited to see all of these under the spotlight of your signature style. Glad to hear it was what you needed it to be!
after a 6am flight monday back to NYC, and 14 hours of sleep last night- i am happy to say that the last california Dcon was a mega success in terms of sales and hanging out. thank you to anyone on here who came by and said hi or bought something- its always a pleasure to put a face to a name
