This does sound fun, I wish I didn't live across the pond a lot of the time. I'll have some freebies at the next event for sure.
Thanks for posting this up Kev. I was kinda hesitant to post earlier in case things went awry. Its taken a while to get this together, and now I know why galleries employ people to do this kind of thing....its much more effort than I anticipated....and I havent even built out the space yet! But never fear - there is such a great bunch of artists involved - even if i have to stay up nights it will happen! Here's the full scoop: Clearwithguts presents Garage Sale. Garage (pronounced how I say it: "garr- ridge") Sale is a word of mouth pop-up gallery/art-show/party held in a garage. The idea is for people to come along, check out some affordable art, hang out and have fun! Who is involved? So far confirmed are: Velocitron, Josh Herbolsheimer, Mitchell Edmonds, Brian Flynn, Splurrt, Monster Worship, Adam Middleton/RabbitsAndRobots, Toby Dutkiewicz/Devils Head Productions, Scott Wilkowski, JulieB/Pretty In Plastic, Dennis Hamaan/Shirihama, David Coffman, Megan Kelly, Uh-Oh Toys and last, but certainly not least, Datadub/Fig-Lab. That doesn't even include at least one, and possibly more, extra special surprise guests! What makes Garage Sale different? Artistic contributors decide their own prices and keep 100% of the proceeds. The idea is to show an eclectic quality mix of toys and art. It's a fun alternative to galleries, not an attempt to take them on or step on their toes. No hype. No egos. No pretensions. The idea is fun. What is the motivation behind Garage Sale? In monetary terms – nothing - In fact it'll be a money loser for me. However, it will be a chance for me to give something back to a scene I love and that has provided me a lot of joy and camaraderie over the last few years. I’m not an artist, or a toy maker, so this is what I came up with. My time is very precious, but I'd love to give this a shot and see where it goes. When is it? The inaugural show is on Saturday December 1st starting at 3 PM until 8 PM. Where is it? 1239 N. Hoover Street, Los Angeles, CA 90029. Near all your Sunset Junction favorites like Akbar, El Cid and Del Taco. Where can I find more information? Check out http://clearwithguts.com/ for updates, background, info and sneak previews of what's in store. Garage Sale is 100% non-profit and all sales will be cash only.
Carl, sorry I've dropped the ball on this, but I will get something snazzy framed up and ready to go...
Happy to contribute a few figures for this. It should be a lot of fun, good luck Carl. I hope this is the first of many.
As well as Joe's contributions, getting a few other super-rad things coming in. Check out the gallery on the first page for some peaks. Also got this flyer - thanks Megan!
Just a week away, I can't wait for Garage Sale. Carl posted a preview on http://clearwithguts.com/ but here is a second preview of my piece for the show.
Seriously guys, the work I've been getting in for the show is incredible, even tho most of it hasn't actually arrived yet...I lol...but I'm having sleepless nights thinking about it. Anyway, David's piece is frickin fantastic. Other pieces I've received form AMP (our own dukuroking), Splurrt, Ralph Consentino (onibaba5 to those who have loved the zag checklist), uppergijoe Ian, Megan Kelly, Death Metal Edmonds, devil boy Toby and the great Josh Herbolsheimer are kicking my ass. I want to buy everything submitted so far, but don't worry, nothing will be pre-sold everyone will get an equal shot. I'm working out a fun (but fair) way to sell the toys...some of which I know will be super popular. Hoping that pieces from Coop, Datadub, shiharhama and velcoitron make it in time. That's not even mentioning some surprise guests who have indicated they will have show pieces too. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time...but this and people rallying to Pete's cause is giving the warmest vibes form this scene I've had in ages.
I dropped off mine and Megan's work yesterday. I saw a sneak peak at these and they are awesome. Next weekend is going to be excellent and so much fun.
Really bums me out that I probably won't be able to make it to this excited to have it happen anyways!
So far there are over 70 confirmed pieces But looks like I'm going to need that day off - as less than half teh pieces are with me - others are on their way. Either way - the contributions are off the proverbial hook!

Huge thanks to UpperGIJoe Ian for helping me today, and everyones who has contributed pieces to the show.
