Agreed. I understand some people procrastinate but I always try to make sure I have stuff ready i.e. boxes, tape etc before I even post up for a sale. Post office has free boxes and I always make sure I have stuff so I can box it up, address it and drop it off.
Great thread and I agree 100%! I've made a mental note of everyone that has responded positively with their comments and ideas. In the future when I'm looking for hassle free/trustworthy people to deal with I'll refer to this list.
i'm slow to mail, but you suckas need to have patience for my awesome sales and highly original and skilled box doodles
yeah that about sums it up - oh and dont forget to add that you got a new GF and that is taking up the time that you should be spending to ship shit unrelated side note - is it too much to expect to have your toys at least shipped ( not necessarily received) 10 days after ya paid? how the hell can you feel alright about demanding asking payment then taking 2 weeks to package shit THEN think about shiping it a few days towards the end of the 3rd week Im getting pissed seeing people posting new shit for sale after finding out they haven't even shipped the shit they sold me from their last sale cheep prices and doodled boxes no thanks if it means responsible ship times ( 2 weeks is fucking lame) - rant over
It comes down to this: You pay for something immediately= Seller ships immediately (I mean barring it's midnight and post is closed- but within a day of receiving payment). If you can take a payment right away you have no excuse not to ship the next day, Even the post office now has 24 hr branches- there is one near me in behind the times Buffalo no less. End of story.
I'm all for this, but still don't get what "pay for something immediately" means. If someone PayPal's me a payment, it's instantly accepted. That doesn't mean that I'm sitting at my computer or even able to get time to go out right away. That's where communication comes in. And not just the seller listening to the buyer, but the buyer understanding what's up with the seller as well. I bought some stuff from someone on this site and he was delayed in shipping for some very valid reasons, and I accept that. He kept in touch and even attempted to ship during the holiday weekend. The items are in the mail and on their way to me and I'm happy. I'm never really in a rush to get stuff, but I do want to know what's happening. And in this case I was a bit anxious because neighbors who would usually accept packages are gone on vacation and I was called for jury duty... But after being there one day, the federal judicial system doesn't seem to want my opinion *SNIFF* so I have to work...
I have to disagree with this. Not everybody has a post office close to them and with the price of gas it can get expensive going to the post for each sale. We are not retailers we are collectors and I think making a post office run once a week is just fine.
Yup. I only ship on Saturday. The few times I've sold/traded I let my buyer/trade-partner know ahead of time that I wouldn't ship until the weekend, but that I'd follow-up with a PM once the item had been shipped. Never had an issue with anyone demanding that I ship immediately.
this is the case with me the post office here opens after i get to work and closes before i leave. i have used the automated machine and printed labels at home, but if i go to the post office then i usually have to wait until friday afternoon or saturday morning. what happened with micromanzone's package is that he wanted delivery confirmation, and the post office was closed all weekend here. no dlivery confirmation forms outside the main office! so i had to wait until this week and make a daring escape from work to mail that and a package to australia
Two words and a consonant - Click N Ship! It works great from you home computer and gives you a discount on Priority Mail shipping and FREE Delivery Confirmation just for using the service. Best yet - you can arrange to have your boxes picked up OR leave it out for the P.O. to pick up (for those of you in a decent neighborhood). Doesn't work for forgeign packages so you will still have to go to the P.O. Key word for buyers and sellers - COMMUNICATION. As long as it is understood how the package will be sent out and when I think that is fine. I think the "I paid for it now I want it NOW" is BS. People have lives - communicate and it will at least be understood.
Wouldn't it be possible to ban certain IP addresses/members from the Marketplace forum? It just sucks to see so much dodgy shit happening here these days. I've only been here for a year and a half but for the first year there were maybe 1 or 2 B/S/T disasters...seems to have at least quadrupled over the last 6 six months. Maybe this is the wrong thread for this comment?
I've thought about this route many times but have always assumed you need a scale to enter the correct weight, is that true?
I have never sold to anyone here, but I have sold a thing or two on ebay and I highly recommend the 'Escali' kitchen scale. (just search amazon.com for the word 'escali'). It's 24.95. It says in the dirctions 'not legal for postal use' but I've never had anything returned because of insufficient postage. I add 1 ounce to the reading just to cover myself. I too have a job that prevents me from visiting an actual post office on any day but Saturday, and the 'arrange for pickup' option from the post office is great.
It's not what one draws on the box as much as what one puts in the box. And anyway, enough of that Yoda philosophical nonsense; got the package from pickleloaf and all is good and on my desk now. Thanks again! I have an "outdated" postal scale made by Pelouze in 1978. It's "outdated" because it has postal rates next to the weight that reflect 1978 rates... Whatever... Ounces are still ounces and pounds are still pounds. Scored it from a local thrift store for $5. Highly recommend checking thrift stores for stuff like that.
I got the Ultraship 55 lb scale from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006LA4DQ Best purchase I ever made. The first few packages I mailed I had re-weighed at the P.O. and they remarked on how accurate my scale was (within .1 ounce). When you buy your postage online, you get a discount, and you get free delivery confirmation, so it has paid for itself already.
i know i'm in the minority, but as long as i receive my shit within 6 weeks i'm happy. i am used to waiting 9 months for a 7" to come so i don't really mind. people have other shit to do and don't necessarily have time to send stuff out. saying that though, i always send stuff within 48hrs of getting the payment but i understand people have other commitments. i think alot of people jump the gun way too early by publicly calling dudes out.
Actually totally forgot about the click n ship. I've used it so many times and never had a problem. Most toys weigh close to nothing especially minis. Shipping for them is like 4 dollars. Bigger ones individually maybe 6 tops? It's been awhile since I sold a toy. I used to work in a mailroom many many years ago so I just do the "eye it up and juggle in one hand" method. Never had anything returned for not enough postage.
I'm thinking about buying one of these scales... does anybody use click & ship with a mac...? I glanced at the system requirements and it looked like the g4 might not be compatible...?
The Ultraship looks like a great deal. I just wish it didn't look so much like a postal scale. I use mine daily in the kitchen and can't imagine that monster sitting on my counter all the time.
