The animated sequences are pretty weird and amazing
Thanks guys! Haven't seen it since I was a kid. Time for a rewatch!
@grosspustule they are very bizarre with a certain charm from that time period. Love it.
The animation was a weird twist for Toho to take with this movie. But at least the animations made sense with the plot, unlike the ones used in Gamera, Super Monster.
I’m such a huge Old Greg fan, I once brought an old shoe to a party expressly so we could drink Bailey’s out of it.
This toy benefits largely from the name associated with it.
$400?! But the lottery hasn’t happened yet?! How could they charge that?
His ass-mouth is kind of endearing. Not sure whether I love it or if I'm repulsed by it. Which, I guess, is my personal definition of a great toy. Want!
Has anyone gotten shipping email for last lottery figure?
Nothing here yet... paid on the 17th. My 1966 and 1984 were received at the same time. They arrived exactly 3 weeks after I made payment for the Cybot. Maybe they're trying to consolidate production and/or shipping efforts and we'll see them out by the time the Hedorah is ready to ship.
I think it ends on the 10th.
Some new color variants for the Medicom Toy pop-up event Akashic Records. Photos courtesy of sofvi.tokyo. Loving them both, but favoring the DaisensoGoji.
Actually I thought these are some of the worst colorway for AAs…..
Aww... to each their own. I definitely still prefer the original releases, but I wouldn't mind owning these two. I think the yellow 1995 was playing it a bit safe. A forest green or indigo spray may have been a better compliment to the base. I'm a sucker for red vinyl with blue-green accents so the other one is right up my alley.
Will these gojis be available only to those who attend the Akashic Records event? I was hoping that these would be available via lottery like the previous releases.
I don't even know where to begin to find a mule for that! Lol
Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but as I understand it they will initially be offered via lottery and must be claimed at the event. Another wave may be available online via https://stylevoice.com from November 7-8 with more details to be provided on or after November 4th. A proxy service would be necessary as they do not ship outside of Japan.
I'd totally pick up that hemorrhoid hedorah if it wasn't for the soft 3D-finish. AA really needs to up his edge flow/topology game. Hi-res piles for the people!
Just got the notification for winning the pickle hedorah. And now there is also a goji 64 w mothra. I saw also a gamera that is coming!!!! The colors are not the most appealing to me I do got to say.
MosuGoji is looking good! Wish they would have done a bit more with the larva though in terms of color.

For those curious about the Gamera who don't tune in to his blog...
Spoiler: Painted prototype, final product may vary.
want! Is this going to be hundreds of dollars as well?
I really like the nitto feel to this guy and that mouth is so funny
He looks to be about as bulky as the Hedorah which was 12,000yen before shipping. Tack on another 3,500-4,000yen with these current rates. I keep crossing my fingers EMS will fully resume operations before I see the next invoice. DHL can really sting sometimes.
I do wish we saw the new sculpts in some fancier bases or paints. There's so much texture on all the Toho monsters (forgotten Baragon included) that I think gets lost with the relatively flat colours on show. The Godzilla releases seem to be a little better in that regard.
Thats a good ballpark to know, will have to keep an eye. The paints are really doing the trick for me.
AA has become difficult to interpret lately... I know he hasn’t been doing well, and he likely can’t physically sculpt anymore. I feel like I have to try and give him some leeway for the 3D smoothness, but it’s difficult. While the Gamera looks great otherwise, on the scales there are the little smooth “pits.” It irks me now that I’ve seen it. It looks so obviously done by 3D.
So yeah... a little torn for sure.
EDIT: Now the scales look like they have bumps, not pits. Either way my opinion stands.
