Yeah, but record collecting is far more cut throat. It was common knowledge among record collectors that the Punk/hXc collectors were the worst. I regularly flip/flipped them, the only way to fund your addiction sometimes. The people on this board are waaaaay more helpful & friendly and it isn't something I would consider as I approach the whole thing differently and the general helpful attitude on here makes it seem... wrong. But thats only my point of view, I guess assholes are everywhere and there no avoiding them. I will however, trade my flat round vinyl for your toy shaped vinyl
exactly my point. this board is something that you would just never see in record collecting.. Much less in hardcore where community is always implied.. brian will be taking your chung king in place of cash at sdcc.
I've kept quiet and read a lot on here because I was quite taken aback by how... civil? it is. With the exception of the Flip Assaults, which I guess is well founded and sort of self policing in nature.
i will be posting a list of hxc vinyl i can trade for secret base face to face at sdcc later this month...watch for it you oldschool geezers...BOOM!
Ill trade my Judge white vinyl "Chun King Can Suck It" for a yellow Bemon... actually I won't, maybe the Insted red vinyl demo....
As this thread is now on the topic of records, anyone interested in 80's punk should check out my brother's online record store. http://yesterdayandtodayrecords.com/ My bro created Limp Records for the DC Slickee Boys and The Razz and also produced many of the early Dischord bands, including Minor Threat / SOA (Henry Rollins) / Teen Idles, as well as The Slickee Boys, Velvet Monkeys, The Dark, Youth Brigade and Black Market Baby. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limp_Records History of Yesterday and Today http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/lo ... race67.htm
hey john, I buy records fom your brother all the time. He's very nice and very helpful. He sold me alot of limp records test presses. I couldnt have been more excited the first time he offered them to me.. totally stand up and washington dc legend. --- edit: he is the "skip" from the "skip we love you" at end of stepping stone.
you could trade a chung king for atleast 5 or 6 yellow bemons. hey california guys..anybody know if dave mandel still has that chung king test press? I saw him post the story behind that thing and loved it.. lets all thank the great krishna sell off of the early 90s.
Yeah and from what I hear most of 108 live in Dallas and are planning on touring... so the rumor mill.... Im keepin all my Judge stuff, even if all the record players in the world disappeared...still keeping (that and the MITB/Crossed Out split first pressing) Thanks for the trip down memory lane
Hey, now that is cool - with your username and avatar, I wondered if you knew him. Now everyone sing " It's a small world after all ... !!!"
GB, yesterday and today, chung king, ah yes. Glad to see we are all on the same page. A 108 reunion would be amazing! Man, do I have something planned for teh end of theyear that will blow all of your minds!
108 has been playing out a lot recently. they'll be playing Sound & Fury fest in Ventura. unfortunately it is the same weekend as SDCC. Theyalso have a new record coming out soon as well. I'm a bit skeptic of it though. They are trying hard to play down the krisna thing as much as possible. going as far as saying none of the old stuff was krsna related. 108 were an amazing band. i just hope they dont ruin everything that i remember.
108 did a reunion and is currently reunited and even recorded an album! havent heard it yet though, saw them play a great show last year though. and even though they arent all practicing krishnas.. alot of dc devotees showed up and lost their minds... I think theyre planning a west coast tour. so start your chanting now....
Good to hear about the tour and info. I did pick up their cd discography a few months back when it came out and forgot how much I liked them. I live in Apt# 108 and everytime someone in the know comes by they ask "Are there Khrishna's inside" or the standed comment "Holyname!" And Bryan, glad you got something a long the line of the topic planned for later this year!
I remember when Y&T played the Mabuhay Gardens and other SF punk locales frequently. I was very young at the time, but remember the attitude among some SF punkers being "those old guys?" I also remember the first time the Circle Jerks played SF ... opening for The Mentors at the Savoy Tivoli on Grant Street. The Savoy crowd seemed to think that The Mentors were sheer poetry (cough, cough) and that the Jerks were some horrific corruption of punk from L.A. A year later they were probably all big Circle Jerks fans. Both bands played again that night at a party at Hank Rank's (Crime drummer) industrial loft. Keith (Jerks singer) vomited during the performance, then spent the rest of the set mumbling lyrics while curled up on the stage floor. Ah, the good old days.
