Awesome info 4th. I do not have time to read it all now, but I will make time soon.

Looks like all my many many Grody toys are going to keep me Nag free. Oh well. I wouldn't trade a single Grody of mine for a Nag.

Re: A Nag Pa I Root

so at nycc last month this guy named Brian walks up to me as i am
looking over the macabre forms of the NNN from behind the glass.

i asked if he painted 2 of the dolls in particular
as to my eye they looked to be from his hand.

he laughed & gestured for the actual artist
to come & discuss what i had said to him.

Brian seemed to take it as a compliment &
in return the artist seemed to relish being
    compared for a similar style.

Brian thanked the artist for it the artist thanked Brian then i thanked them both.

i was so honored by the experience i cherish the memory.

later i saw artist again at the desighner toy awards
i said thank you & shook his hand but tickled the
inside of his palm before he got a chance to do that
to me 1st as he had done to my friend Joe a year before.

the artist beamed a huge smile & laughed like a
silly fellow as he walked away into the room.
i found it more meaningful that i made him laugh
than if i had picked his brain for techniques or
nagged him for one of his characters.

thankyou Brian for the memory! thankyou Shig for the laughter!

So customs were done of these toys, before these toys existed?

I DO appreciate this "knowledge" in particular!!!

I don't know what exactly is even being discussed in this thread anymore, but I do know that people have been hyping Shig's stuff from the moment his first child was birthed. Let's not rewrite history here...history that took place before April 13, 2010 anyway...

Just my 2 cents on the one I painted. I didn't do the physical altering. I was just asked to paint it. More so. Fix it. That was about all I could do. If someone handed me a pristine 4 eyes to paint. They would get it shipped directly back.

The first one I did, I didn't really know much about the figure. I didn't like it. And at the time I was painting anything I could get my hands on. Wish I still had it. Unpainted... :(

I love how a "FAN" thinks he created the hype and is responsible for making the toy that someone else made cool!

Sorry, but it's not you that made it that way!

You're on the same boat as everyone else, a wannabe!

So let Shig do what he does and don't take credit for something that's not yours!!!!

Soooo, is the toy, cool or not really? or is it just hype? But who made it cool? was it the "fans" or was it the maker? Is that why they get dibs(fans) or do you have to do business with him? Do we have to join the lottos or do we join because we want to? Do we like the toy or is it all mental or is it just the hype? Do you think we never win because he's looked at all our collections and seen grody figures in them or just because we weren't lucky enough? Can Dlux win a Nag someday or will he never have another chance?

Don't mind me I'm just confused. But I love this thread, drama all the time.

I've hated almost every version of this toy and the hype around it but the threads are always my favorite. It is funny to see what grown men will do and say to try to get their hands on a worthless (outside maybe 100 collectors?) piece of plastic, most likely to flip it or trade it in a few weeks.

Re: A Nag Pa I Root

    Are you referring to me?
Because that is not at all what I am getting at.
I am a fan (and a pawn in other regards), but certainly not responsible for making this toy cool (which it still is). Just a major supporter.
Realdeocho just had a question, and I decided to let it all out on what I know.
    Cliff notes version?
    I only won 4 lotteries.
Shigeru found out I traded a 1yr old toy of his behind the scenes through someone else's picture on Flickr. I was near banned.
Shigeru keeps an eye on everything.
He refers to his creations as "children". Four-Eyes are his daughters, the OG Genjin and Saimese are his sons.
Shigeru does not like Grody Shogun toys.
I'm not really involved with Mishka/NagNagNag as much as people think I am. I'm not "in". I just made a few headers, and sometimes without compensation.
Shigeru is a cool dude and a great artist. And he has a rhyme and reasoning to his methods.

    That is all.

Realdeocho had a good question to begin with, and I know many of you have had the same thought. Hell, I had it before, but just stayed ignorant.
I mean, no one is bringing up the two old unpainted Nagballs in a certain someones collection, and the non-disclosure agreement that was made in that transaction?
Anyone want to ask Mishka questions about your conspiracy theories? I would love to hear those and see what they have to say.
Or write an E-mail to Shigeru. I can provide that information for you privately.
But you know what, maybe there is no need to!
If we keep on bringing up the "why you have this?! You are part of the cult! You control everything along with all of "them"!!".
Then this cannibalistic cycle will never end.

So anyway, I just spilt the beans of all the "information" I know. Whether it helps or not, there it is.
Again, now some of you might understand this artist a little bit more than before now, and as for others, this was a nonsensical exploit just like all the other ones in the past this thread generates.
    Its cool.
This is the internet. And I don't like using this saying but, "It is what it is...."
All in all. Enjoy what you like, and don't change that because of some uncontrolled outside conspiracies and hype.
Either way, lets just all get back to enjoying toys for what they are.
    Toys.

Unless we have reached a level of complete personal realization, we are all wannabes in one form or another. Granted. I'm a wannabe master gardener, a wannabe artist, a wannabe dad and a wannabe tattoo scholar.

    C.U.N.T. ? Obviously :)

But Miltron, nobodys attacked you and yet you barge in all authoritarian to tell us how it is. Well let me tell you how i think it is in the sweetest way possible:

No, we will not go back to our corners because we enjoy these discussions.

Fans are a crucial element of any successful creation of hype.

Like hype, coolness is a group thing. If my mom is the only person who thinks i'm cool i'm pretty much not cool at all.

Shigeru is definitely a one man band but he is not engaged in a strictly one way monologue with the people, especially artists, who follow and appreciate his work. It's a dialogue that goes both ways, and sometimes even lowly fans might contribute a twinkle of inspiration.

Anyway i don't even think that's the claim Walter was making.

Cheer up Miltron, there's a pot of smiles on the other side of the grumpy rainbow.

I love your nagnagnag images, Ben! Your shots are so creative... Eventually at least one of them should become a header card, print or tee. Please, keep them coming! Thank you! ;)

    :D

From the very little i know i can tell you that Shigeru likes some (but definitely not all) of my " fun pictures" as he calls them, but for a variety of reasons headers, prints and tees will never happen.

I have no problem with that, that nzombie custom he gave me was worth 20 headers in my book. Imagine, i designed a variant of the B.G. and Shigeru made it and gave it to me. Best toy moment ever !

The greedy speculating bastards are the only problem i have with this thread (along with the whole lingering aftermath of my severely mishandled early postings...) But all that pales next to the mysterious pranksterish good humour that i associate with the Genjin.
