Happy anniversary to S7 and congrats on a fantastic party. First visit to the store and it blew my mind- kind of like your first visit to Toys R Us as a kid. I met a lot of board members, which I think was the most fun of all. Second most was meeting Kiyoka in line while buying the Eaton... I was actually afraid to talk to Koji and Kiyoka for fear of a fanboy moment. Anyway, glad to have met all of you that I did. Hope I didn't sound too nutty, as I was really, really excited to be there. It was super cool to see someone's father-in-law photographing their Zag entries. That's some family support.
Agreed with one exception. Galaga shoulda been there. If it had, I would flown out and taken my chances.
It was great meeting you akum6n. Glad you came up to say hi. It definitely was a great event to make it your first.
Not so fancy as the Hotel Kabuki, but for a hotel that's : a) just about as close to S7 (1800 Sutter, about two blocks from S7), b) somewhat less expensive ($130 for a balcony room last time I was there), and c) newly renovated with a Japan-pop theme throughout (anime playing and Giant Robot vending machine in lobby, PCP murals in all the rooms, etc.) ... Next time you might try the Tomo Hotel. Tomo and Kabuki are both run by 'Joie de Vivre' hotels though, so the breakfasts may be about the same ... The Tomo might have been a nice match for the Flynn's Arcade weekend, as they also offer 'gaming suites,' each equipped with beanbags, a PS3, a Wii, and a 6-foot LCD screen. At one point, Brian was gonna approach the Tomo folks about putting the most recent issue of Super7 in every room, but I don't know if it ever happened.
