I can't believe we're so close to this groundbreaking election... Groundbreaking as in I literally wonder if the ground will split and we'll all fall into the pits of hell, because I can't fucking believe what this election has come to. Has there EVER been so much shit-slinging, hatred, controversy, and just absolute childish behavior surrounding an election? Candidates having TWITTER WARS?! Is this really what we've come to? These two are here to represent US? The whole civilized world is laughing at us. Every person from another country I talk to asks me what I think of the election, and tells me they're sitting back and watching the show. We're the entertainment for them. It's really fucking sad. I'll weep as I cast my ballot.
Speaking as an outsider, I can say that - unfortunately - I am most definitely not entertained. Whatever the end result of this election is going to be, I really hope that it inspires people to take a serious look at the electoral system in the US, the partisan political lines, and the way they choose their representatives. But hey, do I expect it? Regardless, please go out and vote. No matter what your feelings are on shit choices, it is the one way you can express yourself on the political climate. And everybody loses from low voter turnout, no matter what side you fall on.
Oh, certainly. At least I know my vote will cancel out someone else's. That's all I can hope for right now.
Harumpf. Well, I guess you get what you ask for. I am more concerned with the bigger picture here though. And, much like the 'morning after' for Brexit voters, this is going to go further than a lot folks realise (or have thought out). Funny that both these videos have a very similarly targeted message.
I have never gone onto Facebook and seen so many of my friends say that they're scared. My heart seriously hurts. My LGBTQ friends are scared. My non-white friends are scared. My female friends are scared. My non-Christian friends are scared. My disabled or mentally ill friends are scared. ...and I am scared, for myself, and for my friends. One person's idea of freedom is oppression for another. If gay marriage is repealed, separation of church and state is eliminated, abortion and birth control rights are taken away, and racial profiling becomes the norm, and my disabled friends lose their disability benefits, I don't know if I can deal with the pain of my peers.
This election proves two things: your average american is a moron, and seriously this country needs to really become two different countries. Hey over history it's happened to loads of countries. Let's see how the south and midwest fare when all they have is agriculture, while all commerece, technology, and science remains in the geographic "lowercase n" that spreads from the northeast down the west coast.
Don't forget that Trump lost the popular vote, and was elected into the Presidency by the electoral college (as Bush was in 2000, over Gore). Don't blame me, I voted Keronia! He was a sharp-dressed candidate with a clear plan for the future.....much more intelligent than the orange Muppet we are stuck with now. Now Trump can get busy bringing back those nonexistent rust belt factory jobs that were replaced by automation......what a great and comprehensive economic plan! I am sure he has already had multiple "oh shit" moments...realizing he has NO FUCKING CLUE of how to govern.
I'm of two minds now over my initial and full-throated support of the Keronia Kampaign, as it seems in more than one plant-majority locality his presence on the ticket drew just enough votes away from the Spitting Image candidate to allow the Muppet to squeak through with a victory. Live and learn. More concerning today are situations such as this: We really do need to remember how to use our words to get our points across.
