I think the downfall of so many photo hosting sites is partly to blame. So many amazing threads I used to LOVE just browsing all night are all but useless now. Pages of broken link after broken link.
@Waterbear I tried my best to go back and repost what had been lost with the Photobucket craziness. Before joining this board, and even after, I had found a plethora of information and images, even on the most current of toys at the time. I’m glad threads like M1, Marusan/Bullmark and Splurrt are still catered to well. But I do miss how heavily members shared their opinions and collections here.
Like it or not, I think most genuine collectors eventually realise that posting pics and sharing information about forthcoming/new/recent releases was, and still is, counter productive.
@Anti Social Andy I unfortunately agree with that now, but at the time it simply seemed like sharing the information wealth. What good is a discussion board about toys if there’s not toys being discussed? In its current state I can see it as detrimental due to the vultures en mass.
while a lot of us do IG, it helped kill the forum. but i miss discussions for sure. while im sure we all have our own little groups to converse with in between shows and what not. we all used to at least gather here to discuss on a broader field. i want to interact more than just a comment or 2 back in forth on a IG post. and more than just 1-5 convention/shows a year.
@eckotyper My sentiments exactly, Mike. While IG posts and comments work, I’ve felt, since joining this board, that, it was more intentional discussion here for likeminded collectors/people. It wasn’t just “That’s nice. I want one.” Actually discussing sculpts, textures, intention, influence, sprays, color choices. All of that often gets overlooked on something like IG compared to here.
I think it's unfortunate. All these "Bitter Bodies" and "Shade baiters" have made this forum toxic. Not worth some artist's time, and unfortunately alienating.
