I mean, any limited edition collectible market will have its aftermarket. To think this hobby is in any different is not reasonable. I look at multiples primarily to figure out how bad something is on the aftermarket, and that M-World one was I believe about 14.5x (@xSuicide Squadx may know retail on that new eyeball guy, I'm guessing it was $120 and they wanted $1750). That is just nuts, especially given Ken's production.
The glow on this HS x Project 1/6 Amabie release is crazy strong. My picture taking abilities do not do it justice...
Surprised this hasn't been posted yet, but MVH is now part of the Headlock Studios family with this Flying Freak collab. Here is a factory paint sample Pretty damn cool and fits into the aesthetic very well
i love that they were able to turn rich's hand painted patch on the one-offs he painted into a mask to use on the run!
I retook these, not only because of better lighting and better knowledge of what I’m doin’, but also for a shot I’m hopin’ to put together soon. Just gotta get proper lights and scenery. Spoiler
Headlock toys are so cute. I’ve always found them a bit too on the ‘western’ Side of things but super glad to see them flooding the instas. The wizard one I think was my favorite to far. the amabie bandwagon has also been a bit of light in all the garbage this year has had. All around a thread that’s a treat to look through, especially with all the great photos
Big reveal from Ken - San just a bit ago. WOLF TEETH is officially revealed in its first, fully painted glory! Possibly released soon, which I’m hoping means sometime in October! Loving the consistency in Knuckle’s facial sculpts, but also how the details and characterizations set each figure apart. The beard, bushy eyebrows and eyes really give off that wolfy vibe. I think the fuzzy tops of the hands protruding from the biker jacket is my favorite part. Wonder if we’ll see a Thriller homage! View this post on Instagram
knocks another one out the park. Love the details, the eyes and hair carrying onto the hands are great touches.
Feel like I've missed out staring at these guys from the sidelines so long--I wanted to hold our for minis of the new sculpts, but the full-size versions of the Devil, Beatnik and Wolf Teeth are going up my list fast. Plus one uh, freakier entrant to the family that I'm sure a few of us are watching our inboxes for
Not much can be said here, for this Lil’ Diablo on the Lil’ Franky body, that hasn’t already been said for both! I will say this blue skin is phenomenal, and looks fantastic with the white crewneck. Knuckle’s artwork for Superman Toys’ anniversary graphic is printed perfectly, also! Spoiler This one, however, I can go on forever about. Headlock and Knuckle - San’s rendition of the Gill - Man, better known as The Creature From the Black Lagoon. Hands down the best and coolest Universal movie monster has now entered the Kustom Monsters roster, and it is an ambitious and beautiful sculpt. Up until now all of the KM toys had been very smooth, rounded even in details. Kid Creature heavily breaks this streak with a ton of detail in fins, fingers, gills, lips/teeth, new eyes and layered scales all over. The hands are awesomely fitted to the rest of the sculpt, totally done anew as their own, and have a pretty fun all - around look with the Creature’s webbed fingers, both on the palms and tops. A bulbous head protruding brow that rings true to its 50’s cinematic roots! I absolutely LOVE this toy, and it has easily replaced Lil’ Diablo for my favorite Kustom Monster to date. I really, really enjoy this aqua/teal colored vinyl, but I am sincerely hoping we see a traditionally green ‘skinned’ version, with full paints. Spoiler
@ungawa222 Aye!!! Thanks so much, Mike! Kid Creature was a fun one to shoot because of all the details! Editing took goddamn forever, but the end result is always worth it!
kid creature! ugh, makes me sick how much i want one. it’s perfection! looking forward to paints, but this blank looks amazing. wonder if paint will take away from the detail
@Lalo I honestly can’t see how it could. If anything, maybe only certain accents like eyes, teeth, nails, etc. would be painted, and the sculpt details left to speak for themselves! Being this is the most constructed character to date in the Kustom Monsters line, I can’t wait to see the artistic interpretation of a painted release.
i just wanna point out how much i love that these are produced in china and no one cares! good design is good design
@MoonspellxRites Not only good design, but quality factory work. Ken’s been doin’ it for so long that I’m sure he’s gone through plenty of factory searching and fine tuning. I think where a lot of the contention with Chinese factories came from was the overly easy access, which resulted in a flood of badly designed toys and quality control issues(but that’s a whole other conversation). Your sentiment was a big part of why I wanted the foot stamp to be shot and highlighted, as Headlock’s production roots are not at all shied away from!
These were taken maybe an hour ago. The imagery in mind, though not exactly this specific setting/location, was derived from the lyrics in “Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea”. Edit: If you saw these when I first uploaded them, just kidding. I did a re - edit and liked ‘em a lot better a second go ‘round.
These and the Maruhachi Rokuro are reassuring evidence that quality succeeds whatever the stamp says. I do shy away from taking parts off my one Headlock piece, since the plug-based joints are harder to remove. Maybe I just need more heat
I love what they posted on their new lottery. If you are depressed don't enter. If you have no pictures of toys on your IG don't enter. Pretty funny.
